While i can agree that it'd be cool if there was more to Ana vs used to be a badass gunslinger but here are some comics mainly about her love interest, i could careless that there isnt a "straight couple" in the game. I mean what does that have to do with the actual game? The game doesnt even focus on Ana being lesbian and i dont really care for wanting a comic just to have a straight couple to "balance" things out. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only characters that are LGBT is Ana and possibly Devrim? You still have zavala, cayde (rip), amanda who clearly has an interest in dudes since she's sounds a little drippy upon hearing zavala and devrim speak (though i ship her with my huntress :) ), hawthorne, shaxx and other characters who havent shown any love interests. So out of all those characters i listed, you only have one character who is confirmed gay and the rest who arent confirmed anything and now we need posts about having gay couples and no straight couples? Ok

  • Look at how they portray the straight women in this game. Sloan might as well be a man. I wrote about this last week. Look at how she stands, how she talks and just her overall appearance. Also, listen to Sloan's voice Her low manly voice almost beats the "nobody knows the trouble I've seen" scene from Space Balls. She's a bass! And close to her is Hawthorne. Another manly-man wahmen character. Independent, strong, doesn't take no guff from a man. Smashing the patriarchy one hen-peck at a time. Look at me balls boys look at me balls!

  • What's so bad about the females not being your stereotypical fru fru princesses? Nothing wrong with having a female that's a commander ready to punch the shit out of someone, especially in a world where your race was nearly brought to extinction.

It's because it's becoming comically predictable now. It's now apparently a "bad thing" to have an actual feminine sexy female character who is more female than male. The women have to be tough, hard, and literally man-like. It is stupid and silly. Just one example... Go watch the new Anthem gameplay reveal. During the leadup to the "strike" (don't remember what they are called in Anthem, too lazy to go look it up), listen the voice of the off-screen character. It's a female. Listen to the abyssal-deep bass depth of her voice. She is more manly (by far!) than the two male characters portrayed in the scene. Listen to how she (he) says "I like a challenge". She's a bass too! https://youtu.be/NYS7yCLVRG8?t=47s Anyway, just sort of keep an eye (ear) out for this. Just listen to the female characters that are now the norm in video games. Listen to their manly man voices. It's hilarious.

  • I'm just trying to figure out why its bad to have tough women and less women trying to be sexy. In these games, destiny and anthem, heck even the division, the world isn't in a state to where it'd make sense to have females trying to be sexy vs tough and stoic, especially when survival is your main objective. Not only that, but not every women in destiny is "manly" or portrayed as such. Look at Petra, Mara, Lakshmi 2, Ikora, Amanda, Ana, and even Hawthorne. I don't get manly vibes from them, sure they arent giving sexy vibes aside from Mara Sov (wink) but they're more tough than anything and being tough isn't exclusive to being "manly". Also i don't really see too much of a issue with the voice in Anthem. It's not like there aren't any women IRL they dont have deep but not exactly manly voices. Not to mention in the same video there's a girl with a not as deep voice.

I'm merely pointing out a pattern. An unrealistic one. Not every woman has to be the equivalent of Ronda Rousey... in space. You know what would be amazing... for a woman character in destiny to actually be drop-dead sexy AF. How cool would that be. It's bizarre to me, but such a thing seems to be viewed as "bad" for some odd reason. It's hard to even imagine that Bungie would ever do such a thing. I don't know. It's just a trend I see more and more. Women can't just be women anymore. It's like every character designer feels like it's their mission to make women be more like men, and I just don't get it. On a side note... Yesterday I watched the new animated video for Hearthstone (https://youtu.be/HxeAZQ6TeKM) and took notice of "Stargazer Luna", a female Draenei character that's in the game's new card set. The original Draenei female characters in WoW were demure, sexy and cool, oozing with sensuality. And it didn't just appeal to men either. Just look at all the sexy Draenei cosplay outfits of the past decade and you'll see what I'm talking about. A lot of girls really dig these sexy Draenei characters (and I thank them for that!). But this new character in Hearthstone... well, let's just say she's been eating too many mana pies. This new Draenei is overweight (i.e. "body positive") and puritanically dressed, literally from the neck all the way down to the ankles. And on top of that, the character is kind of "ugly". WTF right? Who designs these things and thinks that this is what escapist sci-fi/fantasy world building should look like?

My guess for the change is due to how many women in games have been overly sexualized. From dead or alive and their amazing boob physice, mortal kombat, 90% of mmos with their style when it comes to female armor, gta and my favorite metro last light when a badass female turns into the "oh help me main protag. Thanks for saving me now make babies with me for now i just wanna have a kid instead of fighting". I'd guess that they wanted a change away from the traditional stuff i listed. Not to mention it's rated T and as i said with the world the games takes place in, it'd be kinda out of place imo. Now most I could imagine is one of the awokens being a deadly femme fatale or something. But then it'd be weird seeing them trying to seduce the enemies we have in this game.

  • Nope. But if she was originally designed to be a lesbian, thats original = not the new design.
