Why do it again though? They already made 3 back in the 80’s, why make another now? Like I said before the purpose of movie is because they had an all woman led cast. Same thing with the new oceans 8 movie. It’s forced. And that fact you’re saying that it isn’t is erroneous.
There is nothing wrong with diversity, but it needs to feel natural and purposeful to the thing they are trying to make. Or at least not make it feel forced. Take devrim for example. He’s gay and it’s not some big, blown up thing. But you still know about it. With the example of the female ghostbusters, there was no reason to make the movie, other than the fact that it was female leads instead of males and they brought it up constantly during the movie that they were females and they don’t need the horrid man.
A good example of a female lead is in Westworld with Dolores. Dolores is a badass and being female and the stuff she’s been through fundamentally influences her decisions. The Westworld story REQUIRES her to be a girl. It literally couldn’t be any other way. It not only influences her character arc but the character arc of many different characters. And she’s a badass. But Dolores doesn’t go around saying I’m a badass. We just know it. It’s natural.
A character being female is complete fine, but them constantly bringing up she’s a girl and she has girlpower and stuff like that isn’t a good way to build up likability and character development. They don’t need to say that to come off as a badass or smart or anything like that. Based on how well there character is written, we should know that anyway.
