And this is part of the problem.
NO ONE is allowed to think differently. You MUST toe the liberal line or you'll be labeled "homophobic", "bigot", "racist", etc, etc. etc.
Let's modify it just for dramatic effect:
"It's a message to this community and those that embrace this that people [b][i]with different opinions[/i][/b] have no place in this or any other gaming community."

This isn't about where one falls on the political spectrum. This isn't about a difference of opinion on a trivial matter. This is about some people, King-Nate27 et al., who don't want to see gay people in "their" game.

No. Then why have the character make such an unsolicited and essentially unnecessary remark? Do you wear a sign when you walk down the street that proclaims your sexuality? I'm guessing probably not. And if you did, what would be the point? Why would everyone you passed need to know? The same is true here. Why did we need to know? Was it comical? No, she's not Cayde.

Why is anything written into a story, then? This is really about people being triggered by a kiss. If someone kisses in front of you on the street, that happens without any meaning to you. You are very likely unaware of any other context. Does it feel forced to you? If this had happened outside Pride Week, would there be all this hullabaloo? Unlikely. This discussion isn't about the merits of the literature behind Destiny. We all know it's contrived, full of plot gaps, lazy writing, paper thin characters. This is about people feeling that "gayness" is foist upon them. I've never seen so many literature buffs in a game forum.

This has nothing to do with being liberal or otherwise. This has to do with inclusiveness and being accepting of everyone. None of your so called "liberals" would be here defending this if the OP hadn't done exactly what he's blaming Bungie of doing and "FORCING" his opinion on them. Embracing people with differing opinions is just that: embracing. It's not, "well, you can be here, but only if you don't tell me about it." What you're referring to here is "tolerance" and that's a bullshit excuse for "embracing". I'm sorry if this offends your fragile-self further, but you're all being hypocrites.

intolerance shouldn't be tolerated. if you aren't physically harming or harassing someone then you're welcome. if you have the opinion that certain people are ok to harm or harass [u]and you act upon it[/u] then you're not welcome. you can think and have whatever opinions you want, just don't harm and harass people. if you speak your opinions in a public sphere [u]then be ready to have those opinions challenged[/u], if some or even a majority of people disagree with your opinion then formulate a better argument or move on.
