There's just as much evidence to suggest life imitates art as there is to suggest art imitates life. It's an age old philosophical question to ask which one it really is. Homosexuality is an extreme minority. Destiny would certainly not be a good example of art imitating real life. And that fact has nothing to do with whether LGBT is right or wrong.
