Yeah. This "forced diversity" stuff... while I disagree with you on the question of its existence, people need to stop complaining.
A) Bungie made a conscious choice to add in a homosexual character. No one forced them to.
B) They story doesn't write itself... Bungie puts in the characters and has to develop them. Race, gender, religion, and sexuality are fundamental parts of our identity, so it makes sense that Bungie would touch upon them while developing a character.
C) Last one is a question. How many would complain if she was heterosexual? Plenty of games and stories have a protagonist in a heterosexual relationship, no one complains. In relation to what you said about "why they fight," this reminded me about a book called "The Things They Carried." It's about Vietnam and what the soldiers physically and mentally carried. A HUGE focus of the book was their relationships. All of which where heterosexual, as per usual in 20th century US military. So, should we hate it for "forced conformity?" (Term I made up to counter forced diversity. Like I said, nothing such as sexuality comes naturally to a story. It's used to develop a character. As such, using heterosexual characters or other majorities, according to their logic, is forced conformity)
