I’m going to use Ana Bray as an example. If you’re going to make a character LGBTQ+, it needs to contribute to their story, not just be there for the intention of marketing and profit. In this way, it seems out of place and therefore forced upon us with a leftist agenda. In a better story, Ana Bray can still be a lesbian character, but her kissing another girl isn’t the obvious point the story revolves around. More, there are other actions unfolding, and Ana being lesbian is just a background trait to add character. This way it isn’t out of place, but it still gives a feeling of equality and character. Edit: I would make an exception if Destiny were a romance story, but I think most people would see romance of any kind in Destiny as a distraction from shooting aliens.
