If you join in a strike, stick with your team

If you start a strike, heroic or regular, you get matched into a team. And being a team means working together, not repeatedly trying to run past all the enemies while the other two work their way through them, and dying, leaving the other two to kill all the enemies while you wait to respawn Seriously, i've had 5 strikes today where someone kept trying the "mad dash" tactic. If you're there at the start of the strike, you shouldn't be ending it with less than 30 kills while i've got over 170 (Edit: the point i'm trying to say here is pull your weight, and work with your team. Don't be some idiot that runs off by themselves, dies without even reaching the next checkpoint, waits to revive, and then repeats that process multiple times in a single strike. It's basically the equivalent of sitting in the back doing a dance emote while the other 2 players are killing their way through

  • People like you are the reason i dont play strikes with randoms anymore. Casuals have no Idea how to properly do strikes, and the only excuse they have is " stick with the team". All you do is make the strike last way longer then it should. I (with my team) can get my strike milestone done in 30mins, while it takes around 30min for 1 STRIKE while playing with randoms. So no thank you, I wont stick with you, cause ur just waisting time. Catalysts only drop from Bosses, so the only reason to actually kill enemies is for the challanges. And who TF does those anywas?

    • I dont give a -blam!- about you and other crying casuals. I play strikes for 3 reasons: milestone, token and catalyst. If you want to take your time killing everything, listen to every dialogue, and enjoy the scenario for the 1000 times, then find others who enjoy what you like. If you’re doing challenges then you will complete them naturally over time.

I speed run strikes and still end with the most kills. Edit: Pull my weight, pull yours and hurry up I don’t got all year.

      • No. I say that for the reason of if I get invited to play a raid or nightfall I'm leaving immediately because those are more important than a strike any day. But when I do play strikes I agree stay in the strike stop rushing ahead trying to skip the entire strike and ultimately dying and wiping. That also the reason people hate some of the modifiers because they try and rush get killed then bitch about.

        • Shooting your way through a strike, if you're competent and the team doesn't wipe, is 10-12 minutes. I always do most of the fights and it's consistent. Only times it's longer is when someone decides we can jump around to skip parts of the infinite forests in Glass or Grounded modifiers. Then you get stuck with a millions adds to kill by yourself. Then it's 15-20 minutes. Speedrunners have the impression they're going faster. Unless you're so good at it that you finish strikes in 8-10 minutes, you're not going any faster.

        • Well your title could be applied in the reverse. If someone is rushing ahead stay with your team and help them. It’s easier if everyone is rushing that way not one player has to avoid all enemy fire all the time

For a good time throw on a solar primary and just run through the strike in 10 minutes or less decimating anything that gets in your way because its Small Arms and Solar Burn this week!!!...oh wait, that was D1. Sorry.

        • If you are the person that kills all the ads methodically in the “entering the ship” portion of the Arms Dealer strike, then I’m sorry but I’m mad dashing past you.

          • I’ll be honest, my behavior in a strike can vary depending on the strike, the modifiers, if I’m trying to accomplish a specific task, and the other players. There have been times when I’ve stayed in the public areas of strike to farm element and other challenge kills. But I’ll only do that with the easier strikes and will offer a strike gift to the team for “burdening” them.

          • I get what you’re saying but no, the goal is to kill the boss and finish quick, especially if you’re grinding. It’s not even remotely the same as the one idiot who is AFK the entire time.

          • I get it that some Guardians are in a hot rush. I need 30-45 seconds to pick a loadout for the event and pop a Vanguard token mod. (You're welcome, by the way.) If that's going to interfere with your speed run, just go on ahead.

          • As long as it's not glass or airborne, I can run through the strike faster than I would by killing the enemies so I will do that.

            • In the end, the goal is to finish the strike as quickly as possible. It’s efficient. But if you like to take your time, feel free to group with friends or find people in the lfg forums. The only thing I get tired of is if people keep trying to do that with Glass or Grounded modifiers and keep dying.

As a person that has been of both sides of this discussion i have only one rule: If you want to speed through the strike, fine but stay alive. That's what i do when i speed rush a strike. I stay alive and by the time the other 2 guys catch up, the forced checkpoint its almost cleared and we can move on fast to the next checkpoint or the boss. You want to kill everything in the strike, be my guest, i'll wait for you at the boss, which is the only place where the non existent catalyst could drop. Long story short, you play your way, i"ll play my way. Easy.

            • I try to do this all the time. Unless the people in my teams are absolute dicks, I’ll try to generate as many orbs for them, revive or heal them, or hell! Even place a bubble on their corpse when surrounded by monsters

Blame RNG. I and my clan mates have run literally hundreds and hundreds of strikes in the search for strike specific catalysts. We have two out of five each. The point of a strike is to reach the end, kill the boss and open the chest. This is NOT guided games, it's matchmaking. I'm not there to carry anyone, wait for anyone or coax them through. Killing ads indiscriminately is a waste of time and effort and is not worth the reward. If I played the way you wanted me to I'd have done half as many and probably wouldn't have gotten my second catalyst yet. As it happens we're pretty burnt out now because the 'grind' is ridiculous. If Bungie wanted to they could fix it quite easily by guaranteeing you a better chance of obtaining a specific reward. They say high scoring NF's are best but I got mine from Heroics. Speed running is a numbers game and that's the way the game has been designed. The more you do, the greater the chance. Don't blame individuals for not wanting to waste time. Blame Bungie for forcing people into it. If High scores did equal rewards it would slow people down. If you're serious about taking it steady and killing everything that moves then I'm afraid you're going to have to find like minded people to strike with. To be perfectly honest it annoy's me just as much when people like you waste time by killing everything. We all have our own play styles.

              • It's not my fault you're unable to sprint past the small groups where it is unnecessary to fight. Some missions just don't require the wasted time battling through pointless enemies. Take Mercury for example, i can easily go from one end of map to the other running from doorway to doorway to spawn the next set of land to run on. Each section that spawns has it's own easy path to sprint through to the next doorway without attracting enough enemy attention to die. I personally only play 3 strikes per week to satisfy the requirements for the milestone. I'm not trying to spend 30 minutes killing every single enemy in the level when i can just run past certain groups. I also don't die too often since i am aware of which enemies you have to kill and which you can sprint past. I think you are more angry with the bad "mad dashers" that don't know the correct paths to take and the correct groups to try and pass. If you get hung up in the beginning and i make it to the end, you will spawn to my location saving you tons of unnecessary time. Heroic strikes are hard, but not too hard to pass certain enemies.

              • I agree. A good portion of strikes I participate there's 1 or 2 that wanna speed run. That usually gets me stuck with a whole lot of pissed enemies. However I can most of the time hold my own and end the match with most kills(I main a hunter and score higher kills than a speed running titan.lol). Lost count how many times I revive a teammate- maybe that's why they speed run cause they can't handle the pressure.lol

              • "But I'm tired of grinding!" they say. "I'm just trying to speed it up!" they say. "It's more efficient!" they say. If the whole point of skipping enemies is to speed up the strike then how come none of these morons can actually survive long enough to reach the next checkpoint and ACTUALLY speed it up?!
