If you start a strike, heroic or regular, you get matched into a team. And being a team means working together, not repeatedly trying to run past all the enemies while the other two work their way through them, and dying, leaving the other two to kill all the enemies while you wait to respawn
Seriously, i've had 5 strikes today where someone kept trying the "mad dash" tactic. If you're there at the start of the strike, you shouldn't be ending it with less than 30 kills while i've got over 170
(Edit: the point i'm trying to say here is pull your weight, and work with your team. Don't be some idiot that runs off by themselves, dies without even reaching the next checkpoint, waits to revive, and then repeats that process multiple times in a single strike. It's basically the equivalent of sitting in the back doing a dance emote while the other 2 players are killing their way through

Blame RNG. I and my clan mates have run literally hundreds and hundreds of strikes in the search for strike specific catalysts. We have two out of five each. The point of a strike is to reach the end, kill the boss and open the chest. This is NOT guided games, it's matchmaking. I'm not there to carry anyone, wait for anyone or coax them through. Killing ads indiscriminately is a waste of time and effort and is not worth the reward. If I played the way you wanted me to I'd have done half as many and probably wouldn't have gotten my second catalyst yet. As it happens we're pretty burnt out now because the 'grind' is ridiculous. If Bungie wanted to they could fix it quite easily by guaranteeing you a better chance of obtaining a specific reward. They say high scoring NF's are best but I got mine from Heroics. Speed running is a numbers game and that's the way the game has been designed. The more you do, the greater the chance. Don't blame individuals for not wanting to waste time. Blame Bungie for forcing people into it. If High scores did equal rewards it would slow people down. If you're serious about taking it steady and killing everything that moves then I'm afraid you're going to have to find like minded people to strike with. To be perfectly honest it annoy's me just as much when people like you waste time by killing everything. We all have our own play styles.
