The new weapon slots are wack, but I can fix it

I was under the impression we could switch slots for certain weapons because they would always take a set ammo type but it’s worse than I and many others thought 1st things 1st; I AM a D1 veteran. LtsMickeyMouse on Xbox. I know The new weapon system is much like destiny 1 and I enjoy being able to play like D1 BUT BUT BUT... I much enjoyed the Destiny 2 Weapon system because it allowed 2 primaries so you could cover all necessary range and have a personal f*ck off gun in your third slot. I ALSO enjoyed the Destiny 1 weapon system, where you had your primary that had close-to-mid range or mid-to-long range and your special weapon that had deadly long, medium, or short range. All that with a rocket, Machine gun, or sword. [spoiler]TL;DR I think the weapon management in the inventory is restrictive, and I have a working solution that gives complete customization and control without wrecking the balance of the game (bottom of post) [/spoiler] The fact is, there are too many weapon types to revert to the D1 weapon system. There are, Auto rifles (4 frames) Pulse rifles (4 frames) SMGs (4 frames) Scout rifles (4 frames) Hand Cannons (4 frames) Sidearms (3 frames) Full Auto Sidearms (1 frame) Burst Sidearms (1 frame) Shotguns (2 frames) Slug shotgun (1 frame) Sniper Rifles (3 frames) Fusion rifles (3 frames) Linear Fusion Rifles (1 frame) Grenade launchers (2 frames) Breach-loading Launchers (1 frame) Rockets (2 frames) Hakkë Tracking Launchers (1 frame) Swords (3 frames), technically 1 frame as all but 2 swords are all adaptive frame NOW a grand Minimal total of 14 types and a grand Maximal total of 42 or 41, since quickfang, crownsplitter, and eternity’s edge are all class specific I am counting them as one separate frame, the 42nd frame. All of those weapons share a 30 slot weapon pool BUT, that pool is 3 equipped weapons and 27 in storage. BUT those weapon slots are Divided by three so that’s 3 different 9 slot storage units with differing weapon types that they hold (Heavy, Kinetic, Energy) That means Kinetic slot has a possible of; 8 minimum weapon types 31 maximum weapon types Was 6 minimum weapon types 25 maximum weapon types Energy slot has a possible of; 10 minimum weapon types 36 maximum weapon types Was 6 minimum weapon types 26 maximum weapon types Power slot has a possible of; 4 minimum weapon types 8 maximum weapon types Was 8 minimum weapon types 18 maximum weapon types Do you see the problem? If I want to use all weapon types in the kinetic slot, you have 1 spare slot for an exotic and no spare slots for the energy slot. You can now literally have EVERY weapon type in the game in your inventory for the heavy slot. There is too much weapons to use in the energy and kinetic, but more so in the energy slot. The best solution I can think of; Have a single page of weapon slots, all 27 in a 9 by 3 (pretty much combine all 3 weapon slot storage displays) and have the ability to equip any weapon in any slot. You would equip them in the same way you equip emotes. To balance ammo; (Sniper, Shotgun, Fusion, Linear Fusion Rifle) [spoiler]Rounding up = if you have a gun with a 7 round magazine, you pick up 4 bullets. This is for the guns with an odd numbered magazine Heavy drop = heavy ammo dropped by the enemy[/spoiler] When 1 of the previous weapons is equipped -spawn with full magazine in crucible and get 50% of a magazine on pickup, rounding up if uneven When 2 of the previous weapons are equipped -spawn with half a magazine in crucible and get 35% of a magazine back, rounding up if uneven When 3 of the previous weapons are equipped -spawn with 1/3 of a magazine, rounding up if uneven, pickup 20% ammo, rounding up if uneven Ammo balance for Rockets and Breach loading grenade launchers Rockets- No ammo off spawn in crucible, pickup 1 rocket on heavy, pickup 1 on heavy drop Drum grenade launchers- No ammo off spawn, pickup full magazine on heavy, 60% of magazine on heavy drop, rounding up if uneven Breach loading launchers- spawn with 1 in the magazine and 4 extra grenades, pickup 2 on every special brick. All weapons unmentioned retain current ammo system. Now for the fact that due to this system, you could equip all elemental or all kinetic weapons and that could unbalance the PvE; Kinetic buff; In PvE kinetic weapons will do decreased damage to shields, but over-penetrate all shielded enemies. Elemental tweak; elemental damage that does not match a shield does half its damage. This is to balance a loadout of all elemental weapons. Aaaaaaaaaaaand that’s all folks
