Gambit Gameplay Suggestion - End to the Sleeper complaints

By now, I think it goes without saying that we've all had enough of people complaining about our beloved Sleeper Simulant. It's in a sweet spot at the moment with its balanced stats and has a nice spot in the current game meta. However, ever since gambit came out, people have been crying that Sleeper is ruining the new game type. My suggestion to end this issue and preserve the fabled gun are as follows (FYI, I noted this on someone else's post recently and received a lot of positive feedback, hence the creation of this post): Instead of nerfing a great PVE gun, just make it so the heavy weapon slot goes grey and is blocked while you invade. Call it invaders Blight or something. This adds more risk on the invader and forces them to get into a firefight with the defenders. They get an overshield anyway, so I don't see this being a terrible problem. It would also synergy better with the cayde quest, which heavy weapons are kinda putting a downer on for some people. I'm enjoying gambit as much as the next person and I really don't want anything wrecking the experience for other people. Locking the heavy slot for invaders would make, in my opinion, a more competitive and less irritating experience.

  • people need to suck it the hell up metas will always be there. if its not sleeper its shottys or snipers or rocket launchers or colony or other grenade launchers or supers. also we need more than auto rifles and other primary weapons to do decent dps to the ultra enemies. tell me how is banning exotics or heavy slot a solution? its not. itll piss a lot of people off. the invader, yes has an overshield and yes can see where everyone is but there is 4 people on the damn team hes running up on alone. if they cant use a sniper or sleeper or teamshot and communicate to ensure the invader doesn't succeed then mayb they should be doing something that isn't team based. the only solution to sleeper is other heavy weapons. not being cowards and hiding from him, but as a team looking for his spawn position and rushing him or sniping him. or using scout rifles and teamshotting there is many ways to fight an invader that has sleeper. its not those who use sleeper's fault. its the teams who are not coordinated and not communicating. no one in destiny uses the damn fireteam chat ever. the people who don't like things the way they are, its their fault for being stupid and not using what they have at hand.

  • Rather removing heavy. Ban Exotic Weapons. It will piss off some of the community. Some toxic ones some non toxic. For the good of the Game we need to reset game meta. Us players not Bungo. The Players need to reset meta. Refigure out who is a griefer, who is toxic. Who exploits game mechanics. Ect. Than we go back to how we usually are killing the Darkness. Banning Exotics from Gambit only is the start. From thier we can see if we need to do it in other areas. Give us a week bungie, where Strike Playlists don't have Iron. And it's Arc Single. Than ban exotics for two weeks, first from Gambit than From Crucible. We will have all sorts of people complaining, as thier leaderboards get brought down to level conducive with thier skill. To many SS, GL, and a few other exploted game mechanics allowed players to jump to another skill bracket without deserving it. And have ruined the game. For others made it more interesting. And for others will... They got to feel satisfaction as they exploit their way through match making. People may not agree with me. However after doing so, give us a treat Bungie. Give us a for a week straight, crucible laps or a new mayhem mode. No limations to equipment. We can rest game meta, clean house of toxicity, and get a treat to show us what the full potential of Guardians is like . Sleeper Stimulant is the weapon that causes everyone to have enough, we sat around for bungie to fix stuff. Now it's time to take it in our own hands.

  • I agree with the risk situation. Their is none for an invader you can see where everyone is, enemies dont attack you and you get an overshield. All that and what does the opposing team get for killing you? 3 motes wow

  • If it isn't sleeper it'll be snipers or bows. The solution to sleeper is teamwork. When I'm with my team the invader rarely gets a kill.

    • I've posted that idea here a couple times too. Since loadout locking is something they can already to, I would hope this is a relatively easy code modification (but who knows, it will probably cause the Director to break and the tower to be filled with Cabal or something). Besides, you have all kinds of advantages as an invader, so you can live without your heavy weapon.

      • Remove player invading from Gambit. PVP is cancer and will only lead to a never ending amount complaing about Nerfing everything.

      • I continue to argue that the best solution is 1, remove the overshield, replace it with a speed buff, 2x, maybe 2.5. Trust me. Between the two, the speed buff is likely better as long as you are not charging directly toward your target and making your self an easy target. 2, create a "portal sickness" debuff that causes your vision to either be blurred, or for you to see a dense fog where you can't see clearly more than a certain range... Either solution creates conditions where your meta will be CQC instead of high range sniping where the enemy team has no meaningful method of engagement. Removing the overshield and replacing it with a speed buff, and blurring vision to prevent sniping, will both force invading players into cqc situations. Without ANTHING needing to be nerfed.
