So uhm Glimmer? What to spend it on?

There's thousands of posts on the internet people asking about what to spend Glimmer on. Most of the somewhat 'solutions' of these posts are deprecated or not relevant anymore. As a two week old player and leveling my first character half way I notice there really is nothing else to spend glimmer on besides infusions right now. What else can glimmer be spend on in the current version of the game? I'm thinking of saving my glimmer until I get to 50 and I can break the soft cap plateau and get max powerlevel. But when I think of it I can earn all the glimmer I can In about 1-10 levels of my character, if not faster. It's weird that such a standard (AKA common kind of currency) has: 1. A cap of only 100.000 ??? 2. There are no vendors to spend it on?? (Except for some aircrafts and a few chest location maps and such) which don't really add much to go for. So my main question is, what is there in Destiny 2 or in Forsaken you can spend your glimmer on? It really makes me wonder.

So I dont have the forsaken DLC as well but I have figured out that if you go to collections and buy blue weapons then dismantle them there is a chance for mod components. thus by spending some glimmer (250) and gunsmith materials (3) you are able to grind out mod components and then buy the new mods sold by banshee. note the drop rates of mod componets are terrible and I would only do this if you are desperate. I luckly saved up 400 mod componets beforehand so i can still try out the new mods for now.

  • Bungie totally screwed over vanilla players who are new to the game in about 5 different areas. This is one. There is literally only 2-3 ways for us to spend glimmer. One is through upgrading our gear. (Materworking it or infusions) but now all that requires masterwork cores which vanilla new players have almost none off and it's incredibly hard for us to get them. Another way is just bounties. You get every bounty possible every day on all 3 characters that will use up about 5-6k glimmer. You can get that all back though in about 10 minutes. 3rd way is in the collections. Use glimmer and shards to reacquire loot, but honestly that just a total waste of resources inless you dismantled a gun that you really like but now want to play with it again. So yea, you are screwed to constantly have 100,000 glimmer at almost all times and lose it when you finish your bounties, open chests and what not. Welcome to Destiny 2. The game made by incompetent jack asses that never think anything through and screws over everyone every chance they get.

  • If you don’t have forsaken, I think you can only spend it on uncommon weapons from hawthorne, infusion, and stuff from the collections
