At the release of Destiny 2: Forsaken, Scout Rifle damage was reduced for PvE activities. This was further impacted by an issue where Explosive Rounds were negatively effecting damage, which was addressed in a recent hotfix.
To further address the player feedback, we are planning to increase Scout Rifle damage by 15% in a future patch.
Stay tuned for updates.

I was indeed wondering why my Polaris lance suddenly was a pea shooter and now I know -.-

Edited by mja calg: 9/22/2018 7:05:32 AMMaybe your testers could use Scout Rifles when testing? I noticed this during the week before Forsaken. Several people mentioned this and 3 weeks ago we were told a patch would fix it. Still waiting I see, but Bungie has it's eye on this, right? Guess some thing don't change. You fix the bugs that we exploit to make the game playable (i.e. Telesto at Well of Souls), but leave us with crippled non functional Crucible / Gambit UI and broken weapons for months.

Masterwork economy is a mess... Exotic Dupes at near 90-100% for a majority... Xur is useless... Raid is out of reach and forgotten for an even greater number of players now... and this is your priority? It's good you are addressing scout rifles, but really, the things that are creating the most 'anxiety' in your player base should be spoken about and addressed first. Those things tend to be a constant trend on the forum for days. This just shows that you are out of touch with what is actually causing annoyance/irritability/anxiety/frustration with your player base. So the next problem you will be addressing is?

Is this just pve or pvp as well. Just asking for clarity?
-
No wonder! I have a god roll scout that ended up being a disappointment during pve testing. I almost dismantled it in disgust. Time to vault it and wait I guess.
-
Wonder why my Polaris was acting so shiity, thought you nerfed the damn thing.
-
Can we get some love for the high impact auto’s? Maybe some new drops other than Half-Dan or Loquitor?
-
Wow, I knew something was up with my Mida, but I still trucked on and continued to use it in PvE. I'm glad to know that my struggle has a light at the end of the tunnel.
-
dmg, I think you made a typo
it should be 0.15% buff

I'll never forget the 0.4% damage buff to auto rifles back in d1. Or was it 0.04%? It's been too long
-
Thank you. I quickly determined that scout rifles were not as effective as they had been. On the other hand, auto rifles are much better than they've been for quite some time and hence they are now my default weapon type. However, as in reality, the mission dictates the gear.

Can you address please the hunter throwing knife low damage isssue in PVP?
-
Ohhhhh, well that explains it. I went into Gambit with a scout and I was shooting marshmallows at acolytes and quickly switched to a hand cannon. I didn’t know they actually nerfed them. Just put them back to how they were. I don’t remember scouts being particularly OP.
-
I was wondering why they felt so week, its my favorite type of rifle. But why where they reduced?

Random question but is the fabled rank in Lunas howl quest retroactive?

dmg.04?

Must have missed the player "please nerf" complaints in D2Y1 about scout rifles. They must have been buried in all the "avenge Cayde" hype for the DLC.

Edited by H0WOOD: 9/22/2018 3:07:08 AMdmg04, "Why did we nerf Scout Rifles? We don't know. We don't really know why we nerf anything! Lotsa times it's because a streamer or two said something about it, and as they are the only ones playing the game seriously, we thought a nerf must be needed. Players must realise that we really don't know what we're doing. We're just techy sort of guys, who can write game code, but we don't really know what makes a good game. We get all sorts of feed back, but we're sure the players don't know what they're talking about, because they don't make money out of the game. We have all sorts of stats, like how many hits and misses by Scout Rifles, f'rinstance, but if it goes against our feelings, it must be wrong. I mean, take mods f'rinstance again. It turned out that the Mods were, like, maybe a bit too sorta numerous? As if any one could say a hundred an hour was numerous. Right? So, we decided to, as a sorta small, subtle, well meaning correction, without actually going overboard about it, reduce that to nothing. Well, not nothing. Just one or two a week. We think players will love that! Now that that's explained, more on infusion next week. If I'm not too busy nerfing Fusion Rifles."

Does this include PVP cuz if so good Lord Jade is gonna be a beast
-
So, .015% right?
-
Yeah, I'm generally a scout main and they haven't felt great. Also, it seems like SO many are the High Impact, at least outside of the raid. Are there any that aren't? Those will always feel a little slow to me for sure. Hope this brings them up to speed.

Could you tell’em to PLEASE remove the timer when buying stuff from the Spider? Men, it takes forever to stock on materials.

It got nerfed 30% so I guess adding back half is better than nothing,
