Either magnetic grenades aren't actually magnetic, or every guardian wears plastic armour. Countless times now my magnetic grenades have simply fallen off of people, just from them stepping to the side as it sticks them. I don't see this happen with fusion or flux grenades, but it's a persistent problem with magnetic grenades. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but regardless it is incredibly stupid.
