Last night the Dawnbreakers brotherhood and Destiny lost an amazing Titan. Deriss, aka Joshua Foley, was a military vet, Titan master class boss, Dawnbreakers admin, and information guru.
Deriss joined our clan during Destiny beta days on Xbox One and has been a part of our clan ever since. Even when Destiny lost its light we still journeyed as a group of friends across many other awesome worlds until Destiny brought it back.
Deriss you were our clan’s pragmatic leader and resident smart guy but we enjoyed every moment of your life you were willing to share with your brothers. Deriss took his life after facing many battles both inward and outward. If you see a loved one struggling don’t let them fight the darkness alone because we don’t leave fireteam members behind.
Deriss.....Josh, although Destiny brought us together you’re presence and joy helped make us a family. We love you brother. Eyes up, Guardian.

It shocks me how many pieces of shit we have in this comment section. I am truly sorry for your loss, as I have gone through the same thoughts as him. These people are unsympathetic assholes.

Best wishes Guardian.
And to all those losers whose parents never taught them humility and empathy, I feel sorry for you and your shallow selfishness
Edited by Bitten by a GOAT (Adept): 10/11/2018 10:47:00 AMGuardians who do not mourn a fallen guardian aren't true guardians. Just remember we all fight the darkness some just lose the fight. But we do not fight alone reach out on both sides if you need help and if someone needs help we fight together no agent of darkness can win.

Damn....I was really hoping this would just be about someone quitting the game. I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been depressed before but I can’t imagine being in such a dark place that I want to take my own life and follow through with it. No one should have to experience that kind of immense darkness and lowness...my thoughts and prayers are with all of you and his family.

I see post like this twice a year in this forum. Can people stop treating this forum like Facebook. I understand youre mourning and you want people to know and pay attention to your loss. But please this the feedback section for improving the game.

Edited by δυνατή αγάπη: 10/12/2018 5:42:41 AM"When you've suffered a great deal in life, each additional pain is both unbearable and trifling. My life is like a memento mori painting from European art: there is always a grinning skull at my side to remind me of the folly of human ambition. I mock this skull. I look at it and I say, "You've got the wrong fellow. You may not believe in life, but I don't believe in death. Move on!" The skull snikers and moves ever closer, but that doesn't surprise me. The reason death sticks so close to life isn't biological necessity--it's envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can. But life leaps over oblivion lightly, losing only a thing or two of no importance, and gloom is but the passing shadow of a cloud."-Life of Pi You were a great man, and you didn't deserve this. Life can be cruel, but we are all in it for the long run, so we can find help in it together, we can be our own light...Eyes up Guardian...

I just hope he didnt leave kids/spouse behind. Such an awful thing to choose to put family through. One could argue it’s a very selfish act, but I know the brain can steer people into dark places. Eyes up is the truth, I wish that statement helped him before this happened.

22 a day... May he find everlasting peace. I wish his family the best.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest easy, Guardian. May you find peace and an end to all your battles.

Edited by Borgas28: 10/10/2018 12:52:18 AMNever was so much owed by so many to so few –Winston Churchill R.I.P brother Another fellow veteran taken too soon, let this be a reminder to all of us to be kind to eachother and remember that whoever is on the other side of that screen your looking at is a human being with feelings just like you, who might be hurting as much as this man was.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. May you, your friends, his family, and his friends find peace in the grieving period. And for the folk who are like "don't post this, suicide trigger" this post very well could also save someone from doing it as well. There's two sides to the coin. Just cause it triggers you, it could save someone else. I nearly did the same thing a few months back. Had a plan too. I picked up my kitten to say good bye and she nuzzled my face and was purring and I thought, I can't leave her. I can't leave my wife, my step daughter, my cats. So I made a few phone calls, and got help. My point is, not everyone is the same. Because this may tilt you, it could also save someone by giving them the direction they need for help.

I'm sooooo sorry for you clan's loss. I'm struggling mightily right now too, and my fireteam and clan and the world of Destiny is a welcome escape. It's one of the few things helping me cope with my own CPTSD. And *actually* recommended by my therapist. We're never alone. And please, please, if you ever feel like you are, reach out, there's someone to help. 1-800-273-8255 - National Suicide Crisis Line

My heart goes out to you, all the Dawnbreakers, and Deriss' friends, family, and fellow vets.

even if he cannot revive without a ghost, his light will always be there with us.
-
Let’s honor him. Any idea what weapon or subclasses he mained? I want to use either for a day to commemorate him.
-
So sorry for your clans loss and though it is sad this is the best and most unifying post I have ever seen on these crazy chaotic forums. I am sure his light will live on through each of you. Sunsinger flavor text "There are flames that even the Darkness cannot extinguish"

Everything I punch today will be in honor of my fellow titan brother. Sorry for the loss.

Please link an obituary so we can help his family.
