Punishment for strike AFKers
There should be a punishment for people who go AFK. I've encountered at least 10 AFKers just doing nothing, one even moving like a headless chicken just to not get kicked. I've reported every single one but they just last too long or don't get kicked at all and just have to orbit.
Addition 1: Some consequences would be necessary, like temp ban for 10 minutes, increasing exponentially until permaban (maybe).
Also a way to 'initiate' players for being afk would be cool. I was thinking like if someone is AFK, you could initiate them and have to move or get a kill in 1 minute or else they get kicked.
I haven't given it much thought, but a way to initiate a kick procedure on another player would be greatly appreciated.

I just push the afk player as far as I can until the come back or push them off edges to lower their kd in strikes.

I don't see how someone else being AFK even change anything, it's a strike not a raid or nightfall

1 ReplyThis just makes me wish they'd finally add a God damn toggle to do strikes solo or MM. Every game where kicks get added it gets abused. Every game where folks can flag a "AFK" status, it gets used to Troll. If gamers weren't such scumbags we'd deserve to have the tool impo. I've been in groups where folks wish they could kick ___ person because they are slower than the group, or because they are trying to skip every enemy, or because they aren't using ___ weapon, the list goes on. I've grown tired of it now. While AFK is an issue. The sheer abuse such a feature would empower/encourage outweighs the negativity of an AFK player. That's the cold truth of things.

in d1 whenever i came across an afk asshole i'd keep ramming them into walls or off cliffs with my sparrow until they either moved or left the strike it was quite amusing.

Perma ban seems too harsh, just imagine being a busy father/mother and having to constantly go afk. Video game companies have to think about how their choices affect ALL players, that’s probably the reason bungie doesn’t really implement bans into playlists.

8 RepliesI can totally understand having some kind of punishment tool in place for crucible comp, although in my opinion no tool is perfect because you have to factor in lagouts, Bungies horrible servers, etc. In my total playtime with D1 and D2, I have never had an issue with a strike. If someone didn't play, yea it made a strike sometimes more tedious than it needed to be, but usually an inactive player is kicked pretty fast. To put a temporary ban on a strike playlist would be an incredibly bad idea, and overall waste of company resources and right now they have way bigger issues in my opinion to fix right now.

1 ReplyStrikes should be. If you get reported by 2 players for AFK you should be kicked in 10 seconds unless you are actually doing stuff.
