So i got called a bitch and a snowflake by 32 people (thats all i could count before it was deleted) for sticking up for a person who was being cyberbullied. Ive never been more disgusted by the community in my life. This community was on destiny 2 ps4 community page on facebook. The post was deleted and i had way more than 32 messages tell me that im a pussy or a bitch or a snowflake and to "man up." Last i checked cyberbullying is wrong and people have commited suicide over it. You cant tell me if people have a problem with it to stay off the internet. 90% of homework is now done on the internet, all of social media and most jobs require you to use the internet. So for some thats not an options. And about the man up part. Men dont bully, real men cherish and love and have compassion qnd take care of the cummunity as of it were his own family. They protect it, they dont beat it down.

In an environment where you can mute and block anyone at will there is not such thing as bullying, only people willing to take abuse on purpose.

Bullying is bullying, regardless of where it's done. Bullies are disgusting, pathetic, hateful creatures who take pleasure in making others suffer. They are a curse on the human race, and quite frankly make me sick. If you're opposing them, you're doing the world a service.

I don't have the same burden as someone who is growing up in an age when social media is a part of the adolescent experience. So the first answers that come to mind, may not actually be accurate. I would say unplug, walk away. But then that may make that person a "social" pariah, not knowing what was going on among their peers and feeling even more isolated. I honestly can't imaging what it would be like being exposed to an onslaught of thoughts from a group of people who's brains are yet fully developed, assuming they are not yet in their mid 20s. Regardless there are a few things to remember. We can say anything "WE" want. Hiding behind the keyboard. Remember HIDING, I remember playing halo and wanting to punch 8 year olds in the face, because they would say things that I would have never said to someone older and bigger than me. But with that said if you rise to defend someone, there will always be sharks that smell blood, and they will take every opportunity to feel better about themselves or get their dopamine fix by running someone down in. I am not telling you to avoid defending anyone, I would advocate for it... just don't bother reading the responses. Maybe not even this one.

I entirely forgot Facebook groups were even a thing.

While I can appreciate what you were trying to do, for situations like this, it’s best to ignore them. Bullies WANT to get a reaction out of you. Don’t give them the satisfaction. If you do, they’ve won. I would say that for next time, private message the victim and check in. Talk to the victim. Tell them bullies aren’t worth a darn thing.

Wifi tough guys and keyboard warriors. These people most likely lash out because of issues in their own lives. Some people have nothing better to do. Unfortunate.

It would be interesting to see how many of those people would say that to your face, everyone is braver on the internet.

1. Mute. 2. Block. 3. Ignore. There sure is a lot of options to defend against cyberbullying.🤔 Not saying that bullying isn't a bad thing. But is for sure never, EVER going to go away.

Get over it, crying over some words on a screen, pathetic.

lots of sociopaths in this world. I was walking across the street today during a walk signal and almost got run over and then the women laughed at me for trying to stop her running the red. a man and his family was running the same light when I was walking across the street and it was red and he gave me the finger. if I could pull him out of the car and beat him while his kids watched would really make my day. another person ran that same light when I was walking across the street and the police pulled him over . if I was a police officer I would practice police brutality.

and this game sucks balls!

I ran out of down votes for the comments in here. People are just commenting with the focus of being mean. "That person doesn't want to be treated with meanness. LETS GO BE MEAN TO THEM!". That's on some 12 yr old shit.
-
I left that very same FB group only a week or so ago, it's incredibly toxic. They do bully and I just can't look at it anymore.
-
The world is soft as -blam!- now, it's insane. None of the people you are talking about, including yourself, would have lasted 5 minutes when the internet was truly an unruly place.
-
When was the last time that you played Call of Duty? There might be a few shitty people who play Destiny (and probably a few more since the release of D2), but there are communities out there that are waaaaaaay more toxic than the Destiny community. When I started playing D1, I had maybe 20 people on my friends list. That number has grown to over 200 almost solely because of Destiny. I've met some genuinely cool people playing this game, and the sense of community I've felt is unmatched in any other gaming community. That's why no matter how the game changes, or how much certain elements of the game might not be perfect, I always come back to it because of the other people who play it. People turn into snakes on the internet. This is nothing new. Good on you for sticking up for someone, but be aware that your efforts won't stop people's worst impulses from coming out when they can hide behind a screen and say pretty much whatever they want.
-
Your face. It’s fake and it’s right.
-
The irony, when someone calls someone else a snowflake.....
-
-blam!- Cyberbullying. Thank you for being a nice guy. Be excellent to each other.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is just sad. While the world will never be rid of bullying and in a sense you need it sadly. Balance. However just because its always going to be around, that doesn't mean we can't try to mitigate the issue as much as possible. I know 2 people from personal experience who are bullied online and its just not cool. Their lives are already bad as they are, they don't need someone with no regard for human life to tell them to kill themselves. Now sure there are some people who are a bit more sensitive than normal without including anything like traumatic events, neurological disorders, etc. Yea sure, they could grow thicker skin, but how about instead of being an asshole you help them grow that thicker skin? If you want less sensitive people out there then go do it the right way. Attacking someone in such a manner isn't the way to do so. You can try denying things all you want but I've seen it enough first hand to know bullying as a whole is very real and pretty dangerous.
90% of homework is now done on the internet, all of social media and most jobs require you to use the internet. So for some thats not an options.
Homework being done on the internet has nothing to do with Destiny 2 fan pages. Social media is a choice not a requirement for anything. There are jobs that do not require internet. The first rule of the internet is to be careful about what you post. I am not in any way sticking up for or endorsing cyber bullying.

We have ignore for a reason. You can also set your messages to friends only. Cyberbullies come with an off switch. In your face bullies are a different beast.

Edited by Scorpion XV: 10/25/2018 7:37:05 AMWhen someone feels untouchable they show their true self. Most of the time it is something no one wishes to see. *Edit* Talking about topics like this doesn't usually go over well. Most people will mock you because they consider it a weakness. Thus you have a mob of people, who did not learn hurting other people in any way is wrong, jumping down your throat. Just know this. You are not the only one who sees this kind of behavior and is disgusted with it.
