The Official Gambit Vent Thread!

Put on some boxing tape, pull out your favourite punching bag and [i]let 'er rip![/i] This thread is dedicated to all of your grievances, frustrations, losses and sensational failures. You can recount that time when your team was 60 motes behind the enemy team and you were constantly getting killed by that one guy with a Crooked-F4ng, or that other time when you got your Primeevil up and the enemy team melts theirs in under 3 seconds with a Well of Radiance/Melting Point combo with Ikelos SGs, or even that time when your Meatball spawned and you were so close to killing it, until an Invader killed all 4 of you and healed it back up to 100%! Because let's be honest, this is a much better idea than just making another thousand threads about why you hate Gambit, right? Now let's hear 'em!

  • Need an alternative to the quest grinds. Every match I play is botched by someone trying to do quests or bounties. I won't even try to finish my malfeasance because I become a drag on the team. Let alone the bank one loose 2 is a miserable situation because the other team is on kill 4 in one invasion. I'm not saying make it easier on us but it affects everyone playing because we are there for selfish reasons. You wanted to inspire teamwork instead gave us a reason to be at each others throats.

  • Had meatball up, two teamates could not stay alive for more than 2 seconds. Me and one other guy did all the damage. Still failed because they basicly fed the boss health. FML

    Bungie needs to rethink some of their bounties (Triumphs and Quests) for Gambit and how these bounties can have “unintended consequences” causing teams to loose because individual players are more focused on meeting the requirement of bounty than winning the game. This is having a detrimental effect on the quality of the game itself. This is often amplified when several “bounty hunters” are match made onto the same team, pursuing and sometimes competing to fulfill the same bounty, leaving the remaining team mates that want to actually “Win” the game in a hopeless situation. No wonder players were quitting the games at times. Perhaps the fulfillment of a bounty should require that players first win the game before the achievement is considered accomplished, though I am not sure that would work either. Bottom line is that many of the outside requirements to do specific things in the game are negatively impacting how teams play the game. [spoiler]PvP team games have the same problems with players focusing on Bounties and quest steps with no/little regard to contributing to help the team win the game.[/spoiler]

  • 2 things really pissing me off 1 - light vs light triumph. Hardly anyone invades with a super now, I've been stuck on 4/10 for so long and reset 3 times. 2- bank 15 motes quickly. What is quickly? No-one I play with has this, it's insane when everyone just snatches the motes or you run over them only to find the pick up hasn't registered, fix the pick up bungo.

    • I am probably in the minority, but I actually enjoy Gambit. Yeah, some rounds can be very frustrating, but overall I enjoy it. I have seen the same things others have mentioned. Hell, I have even done some of the things mentioned. Luckily I learned from my mistakes and try to do better the next time. Some of my pet peeves.... #1 - if you hear the drifter say you have enough motes to pull a primeval PLEASE stop what you are doing to head to the bank. You might be the one with 10+ motes that can put us over. No need to go for the Ogre. Bank and let's roll. #2 - blockers... If you see a blocker is at the bank stop and kill it please. Do not get it in your head that you will go collect motes and come back and kill it before you bank. Too often I see this and what happens is either you die before you can bank or you get invaded and those 15 motes you worked to collect are lost as you take a sleeper shot. Keep the bank clear always as best you can. #3 - Holding motes. Do you see the progression bar at the top. See the little gray/white sub bar. That is how many POTENTIAL motes your team holds that hasnt banked yet. See how you can see the opposing teams bar and they can see yours? Well some teams use that as a strategy. If they see you have a lot of potential motes they will bank theirs to block your bank and then they will invade in the hopes to kill enough that are holding motes and slow down your progress. It amazes me how many people don't realize this mechanic yet. #4 - Type of blockers - this can be debated, but in my experience the phalanx and knight are the best blockers to use. The ogre is okay, but he is also a big target and slow. You could put 3 phalanx in place of one ogre. Go for the low and mid blockers. They get the job done. (yeah yeah you have your bounties, that's fine.) #5 - Invaders. If you are being invaded (not during the primeval phase) and you have 0 motes on you. GO HUNTING and try to kill that sob. "but I suck as pvp!" So, what! So do I, so do a lot of people. You have almost NOTHING to lose by going after them. If nothing else you might clue the rest of the team into where they are. If it's DURING a primeval phase stop hitting the primeval and look for the invader. Again, even if you suck at pvp if you see them coming take a shot at them. You might not get them but maybe you weaken their shield enough for the next guy to take them out. Point is, just try. Also please stop hiding the in the spawn area. They know this. They count on this. Easy 4 kills with super and heavy. #6 - Invading! - Please do not invade unless you have heavy ammo and your super. The point is to get as many kills as possible. Yes you have an overshield and wall hack, but why not make absolutely sure to stack the deck in your favor as much as possible. #7 (last one) - mobs - some mobs are more troublesome than others. Shriekers and scorch tanks for me are the worst. They will melt you in a second if you give them a chance. Take out these troublesome mobs from a distance then close in for the main kills. Hope this helps a little bit!

          • Can we just perma ban linear fusions in gambit? Cuz they’re all annoying campers who sit in the back. And have matchmaking for people with malfeasance to be a separate thing? Cuz I don’t need to be absolutely cucked by some moron who wasted endless hours on this pointless game mode. I also hate the fact that my guardian feels weak to ads. Like why the f*** can a scorn captain OHK me with a melee? In conclusion, Gambit is bad. The end

            • My biggest complaint is the inconsistent damage dealt and received. Sometimes my guardian feels like is made of tissue paper and is shooting a bubble gun. Also the irritating invaders during the boss phase. It seems like there is an invader every 30 seconds. Still managed to kill the meatball but it was frustrating.

              • My only issue with Gambit is people waiting at portal. Not doing a damn thing just sitting in front of portal. Then port and get zero kills.

              • Everytime I match against someone with 1k voices, I just give up because it's absolutely ridiculous to have our primeval at half health and for one guy with one weapon kill their primeval faster than 4 people can

                I played a lot over the weekend. I ran solo instead of running with clan mates. Here’s my 2 cents broken down for both sides. The good I have to say I was surprised and won 70% of my matches with randoms. I pulled several matches out of the crapper with my Chaos Reach and exotic G boots by melting the boss after waiting for slayer to reach 5x. So overall running matches for 2 days wasn’t as bad as I’ve read on the forums. Many players were solid and worked together and made sensible choices during the matches. From reviving to banking quickly. Weapon drops were solid. I had several solid rolls drop and a few ”God Roll” drops as well. I did get all weapons to drop. The bad Over 2 days I only saw the meatball spawn twice. We did take it down and pretty quickly but that’s an abysmal spawn rate. Lol the other teams showed zero mercy and invaded nonstop but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s all about earning the kill. Players camping the portal to invade when matches were close. Hey if you can wipe the other team that’s great but camping and getting zero kills isn’t a good thing. They could of helped swing some of the close matches. I love wiping the other team and get invading kills are part of quests but play the match first. The ugly Once my rank reached Legend the wins disappeared. It was a grind to move the wheel forward. Not sure if the match making is intentionally worsened by the final rank or it was luck of the draw. I played a lot matches so I’m leaning toward it being set to be more difficult once it reaches legend during double and triple infamy. I didn’t have that issue before on reset but it was noticeably different. Overall I had a lot of fun with many randoms. I do enjoy Gambit and I love the weapons. That’s my 2 cents lol and that’s what this post is worth. I just wanted to relay my personal experience.

                Live has never been better. - old

                So I just wanted to chime in here. I see a lot of things being said and posted that are so true. I also would like to take this opportunity to speak for my 7 yr old who is not on the forums (for obvious reasons). He plays hard and for his age and skill level he plays pretty good. He is a little slow on reacting and definitely gets to close in some engagements. He however is starting to understand the game mode and that bounties are only a part of the match. He does however get turned around sometimes when things are crazy. Hell this happens in PvE objectives. He’s maxed level, mid 550 PL. Hes beat all the story line.... So my point here is this. I know that there are aspects of the game tied to winning Gambit and sometimes we get the shit end of the stick. Just remember the person playing may actually not be capable of being as good as the next. All that said, the little fvcker was watching videos on Saturday about Malefecence and was hype as fvck to get into Gambit. Sure as hell, second match round 2 not only the win but his fvcking quest.

                  My only problem is the goddamn hit registration. And several times now I've launched wardcliff coil shots that directly hit people and the rockets dont even tickle their shields. Or shooting it at a boss and the rockets just sink into the ground and disappear... doesn't even show an explosion😒😠😤 It happens way too often.
