(Disclaimer, idk if this count for the contest since it’s more of a poem then a story but whatever)
The deer
It sit on the wall
Always watching
Never seeing
The humans sits below
The fire roars in the corner
The humans they hear
But they do not listen
Regaled by stories of courage
Humbled by stories of pain
Entranced by the same stories
The story of the man on the boat
The story of the 20 years journey
The lotus eaters listens with eyes wide open
The Man eaters munch away
The warriors slaughter the cows
And the nymph wishes to be free
But through it all they share one thing
They all relate the lost one
The strong
The brave
The wise
The willful
They hear to the eternal stories
They listen to none
