Hello everyone! To keep it as close to the original LfD series as possible by ShadowSniper, I will be attempting to write in the same way he does.
So, without further ado...
The Worm Gods!
Description
The right hand men of the one true Final Shape (I.e. The Darkness), they are/were a set of extremely powerful noodles, usually resembling a demon earthworm (as shown by Xol, who we will be discussing earlier). They can actually have different forms than just a little noodle, but Xol is the only example we have as of now.
The Worm Gods are not only powerful, but they are old. Really old. How old? As old as that white ball in the sky. They have the same goal as their master— destroy that ball.
They speak in a similar manner as the Ahamkara do, usually saying “o ______ mine”. Copycats. There is a chance the two are related, but that discussion is for another day.
The Worm Gods are also the “ancestors” of the Hive, turning them into what they are now by giving them their larvae for the Hive to put into their bodies. (That sounded a lot more wrong than I was intending.)
Now, we dive into the history of these spooky little snakes.
History
Trapped in the Fundament guarded by the Leviathan (NOT the ship), the Worm Gods bided their time, slowly leading the Proto-Hive (before they were Hive) into their domain. The Worm Gods proposed a deal to the Hive, they accepted, and the rest is history.
I have been saying Worm Gods this entire time, but let’s put a name to them, shall we?
Names
Their very names being pieces of worship for the Hive, they are basically fathers to their own “family” of Hive. Let’s start, shall we?
Xol
Considered the weakest of the Gods, Xol, Will of the Thousands, created a contract with the exiled prince, Nokris. Rasputin however, traps them, and they slowly grow weaker and weaker, until they turn into... story missions. *shudder* he did span hundreds of meters though, so I guess that’s cool.

Xol is later “killed”, and turned into his final shape, the Whisper of the Worm.
Yul
This will become a common theme, but we do not know a ton about each Worm God and their personal experiences. However, we do know that Yul, The Honest Worm, plotted to kill Xol and consume him to gain power. He is described to have “silvery scales” and wings.
Eir
Eir, the Keeper of Order, is only mentioned a few times in the lore. Not even a description is given, however he is the one who commanded Oryx to straighten his throne world out by dealing with Crota’s mistake.
Ur
Ur, the Ever Hunger (which has the coolest name to date) is actually mentioned a few times, but only in name. It seems that he will have something to do with the story in the future, but as of now we have little info on him.
Akka
And finally, Akka, the Worm of Secrets. Also known as the Worm who “gave” Oryx the ability to communicate with the Darkness. Akka is actually dead. Crazy, I know. He was considered the strongest Worm of the 5, and held the secret of the Deep (or taking) which Auryx wanted, Who later turned into Oryx. He seemed to be able to fight even when he was dead, and gave Auryx some trouble. His body was later fashioned into the Dreadnaught.
So, that’s it! Feel free to leave any thoughts or recommendations in the comments.

Edited by IceApfel: 12/4/2018 9:05:32 PM1. The Leviathan ship isn’t modeled after the Fundament Leviathan. It’s modeled after gigantic worms native to the Cabal home world. You can see carvings of them all over the Leviathan (ship). 2. Akka didn’t give Oryx the secret to take, he taught him how to communicate with the deep. The deep gave Oryx the ability to take. 3. Wormgods aren’t the ancestors of the Hive. The ancestors of the Hive were the Krill. The Wormgods turned the Krill into Hive by giving them their larvae as symbiots.
