There are two types of terrible fans- the Black Armory responses

My main inspiration for this post was the controversy surrounding Black Armory. These types of people are worryingly common in the arguments around the recent DLC. ======WARNING====== This is based off of my opinion. Don’t get your ego in a twist. ======================== 1- The fan who does not acknowledge issues. This would normally be fine, but they are very adamant on voicing their opinions. Not that bad, just annoying as hell. 2- The fan who will complain about everything that does not meet their often outlandish expectations. This can be particularly bad for indie devs, but Bungie is a fairly large company, so this is more of a nuisance rather than tax on the developers’ mental health. Also not that bad, annoying, like 1, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, for lack of a better term. As long as these groups are kept separate, there is no “trouble” (I mean, it’s still an unhealthy mindset, but it doesn’t come to the point where it really bothers anyone). But if they combine, like in the Black Armory rants/praises, holy sh!t does it get toxic. Any legitimate criticisms are shut down by group 1. Referring to them as “mindless haters” or “trolls”. Any legitimate praises are shut down by group 2. Claiming their opposition are “fanboys” or “sheep”. Name calling, while being a moderately effective propaganda technique, does absolutely nothing to resolve an argument or change anyone’s mind who already has strong feelings about another ideology. Be considerate, despite how flawed the “other side’s” views seem, hear them out. You might just learn a thing or two.

 • I think a lot of people overestimate how "big" Bungie is. Bungie is a good sized studio worthy of being called AAA, but they aren't as big as some other AAA devs out there. Consider that some AAA devs are big enough to juggle multiple IP's with seperate teams in entirely different countries working on totally unrelated projects. Bungie is one studio working on one game. Just something to keep in mind.
