Honestly I'd just think that while most of the raid mechanics are tied to some mcguffin or pattern, this puzzle is just a free for all. It provides almost no context on the correct combination and the way to decipher it and at this point makes anyone trying to solve it go through actual possible combinations. People are now searching for some of the most obscure stuff, and seeing how that doesn't work as well, you have to wonder what Bungie were thinking when starting the labs. Unless there is an official apology by the company, I don't think they can come back from this.
