Okay, this is going to be a long one since this really pissed me off and destiny 2 was the only game I currently ever play. I got home after a long day of work, excited to hop on d2 to release the stress. Jumping into the crucible is literally my favorite way to clear my head and spend a good amount of my evenings, the feeling of going on a win streak and being on top of the leaderboard is something I strive for. But when I logged on, i got a notification letting me know I was banned from the crucible for two weeks because of “poor connection affecting other players’ experiences”. There are a number of reasons why I think this is absolutely ridiculous. First off, I’m what people refer to, a “blind fan”. I love the Destiny franchise and everything the universe has to offer, despite the harsh criticism it has encountered over the past year. I preordered the collectors edition of vanilla d2, preordered every dlc that has been released, and I purchase merch from the bungie store. I don’t care how much people try to tarnish the franchise, I’ve been loyal for a long time now. The destiny universe is one of the most well constructed fictional universes I have ever encountered. You people at bungie need to realize that some people who play your game fall under a very specific category. Some of us can’t afford the best internet out there, due to financial complications and the jobs we work don’t have the big financial output as some others. But still, I always manage to scrape what I can together so that I can enjoy the next dlc, or acquire the next rare emblem. And no, I don’t lag every single game in case you’re wondering. I actually haven’t lagged in quite some time now. Getting complaints about my connection are extremely rare now. I recently hard-wired so even though I don’t have the best mbps, I can maintain a stable connection every time I log on. But I still get banned. And for TWO WEEKS. Like I’m almost fabled in comp, and you guys are just making my goals of getting the mountaintop seem much farther, since I’m now going to lose points because of decay. Like I understand that you guys just want everyone have a smooth PvP experience, but really? TWO WEEKS? that’s a bit excessive don’t you think? And especially since I haven’t had connection issues for quite some time now. I think getting punished for not having the best internet is ridiculous. You guys think that just because you can afford it, then your whole player base can? Nah, it doesn’t work like that, but I guess I was just stupid for thinking that you guys actually understand. It sucks not being able to do the one thing that you enjoy so much, the thing that helps you escape the harsh realities of the world, for something you have no control over. Thanks bungie. I really started to think that you guys were starting to actually listen to the community. These two weeks are going to suck.

Did you get any kind of a warning before the suspension?
I was banned from the crucible for two weeks because of “poor connection affecting other players’ experiences”.
Fix it. Then your problem is solved. Other people have the right to enjoy the game they've paid for without having to try to track your teleporting, rubber-banding, and failing to take damage. For Bungie to have taken this step, the problem was pretty severe...and you were probably getting reported about it on a regular basis. I've been in Crucible matches with people who had such bad connections that they crashed the entire lobby.
-
Unlike most of the people in this thread I actually feel for you. Two weeks is just too long. Why not 24 hours then if you lag again you get banned again? I also have a connection that can be fine one moment and then complete shit the next. I just decided to stop playing when it gets bad and haven't been banned. People that have bad internet shouldn't be able to make it so other people have crappy matches though. Its just common sense. Why if someone has access to/pays for normal internet should they be punished because someone else's internet is not good? That and of course there are the people who make their connections lag on purpose and those people were probably the deciding factor when comes to the bans.
-
Spend a normal Internet. And for such as you hit is not registered, you teleport, and all that stuff that prevents other players from playing.
-
You were reported for xheating broseph..and many people reported u too get ban..so..stoo chearing amd problem solved
-
You don’t need the best Internet, just decent internet, which costs almost nothing. Great status btw. Really shows your intelligence. “If you’re 15 I’m 15” lmao no wonder you’re so stupid and sad, you’re just a pedo.
-
So everyone else should suffer because of your poor internet? Ban is fine in my eyes.
-
I really started to think that you guys were starting to actually listen to the community.
Bungie doesn't listen. They pretend to listen and then continue to do the same crap they have for years.
-
Holy wall of text. Use paragraphs dude...
-
I guess you picked wrong game to love on
-
Sounds like a mercy. Now you'll be able to enjoy other games, maybe you'll realise how much better they are.
-
I sympathies but 99% of your argument is irrelevant. You had crap net that impacted the enjoyment of others. Unlucky man
-
It's a shame but to compensate for you they would need to put you on servers for everyone with sucky internet because at present, your connection does make it worse for others.
-
Yes, it sucks for you. Now think of all the poor bastards that lost to your blinking in and out of games for the last 2 years. Or the ones that were bopped back to orbit due to your crappy connection. I don't put it all on you, bungie sucks for this p2p network bullshit. Dedicated servers are really the only fix.
-
Some of us can’t afford the best internet out there, due to financial complications and the jobs we work don’t have the big financial output as some others.
Really??!! Wow! Yet you pre-order every dlc? Some of us can't afford the dlc's due to children, family, bills and life yet I make sure I have the best connection available to me so when I do get the opportunity to jump online I don't have any connectivity issues or spoil someone else's play time. You need to reprioritise pal. Throwing all your cash at the dlc's when you have poor internet connection is pretty much selfish.

Your not going to lose glory point. Glory decay is only for those who have reached legend rank.

Edited by Alvin Guernsey: 1/25/2019 9:00:40 AMThis is perfectly put (other than..... you know.... paragraphs!). Last week i played quite a bit of pvp. Trying for Redrix. Most games im fine, but then the guy i was playing with says, "you're glitching all over the place!". I checked the roster and sure enough i have a tiny piece of white bar on my connection indicator. So i stop moving, shooting etc. Game goes on and bar gets full and im no longer glitching. Following games, I'm all good. I didn't do a thing to reduce nor improve my connection. Bungie servers did. I get matched to players from literally all over the planet and there is nothing I can do about it. I can tell if i get connected to people from the US chances are I will get killed and then see my assassin walk around a wall. And Bungies fix for this? Ban their customers. How about, I don't know, instead of creating more content (that inevitably will be broken & require multiple fixes) you have a team of people making the content you already have actually playable?
-
your potato internet makes the game suck for the other guys in every lobby you join.
-
Hey might i interest you in a VIP demo? Have no friends? No problem bucko, next week is the open demo. Deticated servers, the choice of playing alone or with friends. Where are you gonna go wrong. I mean seriously. Free is awesome isnt it

Real Question: Did you revive a warning before the suspension? Bungie told us in the TWAB this was coming, but that you would receive a warning first. That would give you an opportunity to cut your crucible play short before if there was some kind of temporary issue with your network causing you to get the suspension.

I hear anthem has dedicated servers
