Dazed by all the lights and vibrations, the Bond-brothers stayed down for a moment.
Vince whispered a request to his ghost. “Bring me my armor and disable those shields, friend.”
“Are you sure?” the ghost asked.
“Absolutely,” Vince kept himself hidden among the rubble. While his ghost did his part.
The Cabal regrouped.
“We’ve done it!” Vo’or brushed debris from off his armor, “My missile pack is broken, but the minigun and at least one gauntlets remains intact.”
“Indeed, we are alive, my cannon and blade are still at the ready if need be,” Canus replied.
The two Cabal shook hands in front of a pile of rubble.
“This is the strength of the Cabal!” Vo’or said.
“And the power of Caliva’an’s shields,” Canus reminded him.
With that Vo’or smirked in a wide grin.
Marlo appeared next to his guardian buried beneath rubble at the same moment.
“Equipping the experimental chest piece, The Traveler’s Void,” Marlo said, the chest piece appeared in a glittering light upon Vince’s chest. It was a design of swirls of dull grays, waiting to be filed with some form of the Traveler’s light, “Go get em, Vince, I’ll be ready to wake you up when you need it.”
With that, Vince burst from under the debris, both the Cabal were shocked. Charging his right fist Vo’or sent a punch right into Vince’s chest piece, the swirls on it began to glow blue right, up to the circle centered right over his heart as he fell back towards the debris.
“How can you still stand!” the Colossus shouted.
Hearing just enough Cabal translations over the years, Vince was able to reply in his own tongue, “My heart does not reside inside me,” and with that Vince summoned a Hammer of Sol and knocked back the Colossus 50 feet. He activated his armor and the hammer began to glow with arc energy as he swung the hammer next at the Centurion’s cannon, but Canus was quick to block with his blade.
“Brother how is he on fire and summoning the storm from within.”
“I don’t know but we will stop him.” Vo’or shouted as he rushed forward.
With the incoming danger Vince shouted out to his ghost, “Marlo, I hope their shields are dropping soon.”
Marlo was quick at work as he replied, “Oh they will.”
Vince slammed the hammer down sending a shockwave of arc at Vo’or who was stunned by the mimicry of his own attack. Canus took this chance to fire off a solar blast from his cannon, sending Vince into a generator on the wall, the shields on the Cabal faltered for a moment.
“Fool, fighting fire with fire often never works!” Vince laughed at his foes.
Hiding in the shadows, Caliva’an watched his allies battle it out with the lone guardian and decided it was best to return to the roof for now.
Vince threw a hammer Canus. It exploded on impact, in the aftermath, Canus’ face was bloodied.
They looked at each other wide eyed. Vo’or saw this too and realized fate had arrived in that moment.
Canus shouted to his brother, “It’s that ghost’s meddling, it’s disrupting our shields.”
“Yes,” was Vo’or’s only reply as he leapt towards Marlo to crush the ghost in his hands.
The ghost turned to share the wondrous news, “the shields are done Vince, we can finish them” he then noticed the large white gauntlet charged with arc rushing towards him. As he tried to evaporate away it seemed pointless, but out of nowhere flames came flying to the rescue as Vince’s knee came flying into the Cabal’s chin. He secured his ghost in the palm of his hand.
“Marlo hide!” were his only words.
Marlo did just that and not a moment later did Canus’s blade come piercing through Vince’s side right into his hand. Right where his ghost had just been.
A skirmish has begun.
Vince flung a sunspot down. Prepared to fight to his last. With his left hand he stole as much arc energy as he could from the Colossus’ gauntlet, barely functional. Vo’or swung a fist into his face, sending the guardian flying into more rubble. Vo’or checked his weapons and began to rev up his mini-gun the only piece on him still functioning Vince raised his arm and swung the hammer into ground smashing it into nothing, but he started a massive arc shockwave that didn’t cease. None of the bullets reached Vince as the shockwave continued and soon the minigun shorted out. Vince stood himself up again, Canus brandished his blade broken in half. Vince pulled a knife from a sheath on his leg and imbued it with arc energy. He charged at the Cabal, the punches flew back and forth. Each blade met an organ. Vo’or rejoined the fight and Vince was at a disadvantage. With his solar energy running out Vince swung one charged fist at Valus Vo’or before before slice across the face by Vanus. He fell. He had no strength left to fight. The Cabal recovered and looked over their toughest adversary.
“He’s made just as much an attempt on our lives as we did his,” Canus stated.
“No,” Vo’or said, “it was an attempt on our souls, our very being as warriors, if any fighter in this galaxy could stop us, it would be no Emperor or God King, but him.”
The Colossus looked down one more timer at his opponent, “Give him glory…in death”
Neither Cabal had noticed Vince holding one last fusion grenade charged with arc light.
As the cannon roared up one last fiery death. Neither had expected the ghost to appear above them transmitting a the last few explosive canisters with him.
“Hey numbskulls, eat this” Marlo zipped away as the canisters next to Vince and the cannon.
The biggest grin appeared on the Titan’s face, as he thought to himself, “Thank you friend.”
