A suggestion to the neigh-sayers
— By studying Venus, astronomers have determined many aspects the Greenhouse Effect and the result it has had on the planetary atmosphere due to a run-away effect. — By studying Mars astronomers have determined what happens to a planet which has virtually no Ozone layer to protect its surface from ultra-violet radiation from the sun. As of now these two findings, out of innumerable others astronomers are currently studying, are extremely beneficial to understanding the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere. One of the many benefits from sending probes to study the environments of other worlds. By studying other worlds, we find out more about our own fragile blue world.
• Meh.... with the space of the oceans uncolonized humankinds desperation to go to the stars is a bit premature IMO. I was told once by a political braniac that rich folk funding this stuff are seeking the gravitational benefits for longer life is all. "Humans are a virus..." dood said in the Matrix, yep and we are going to mars to F that place up too.

  • Space Travel is something beyond In other words, it’s generations away before we even witness true space exploration. We will all be gone by then. - As for Space Exploration, it holds not merit or concern for our time. There’s no Alien invasions, no signs of life. The closest thing to space exploration in our time is launching random stuff into space. - Satellites - Garlic bread - Netflix Satellite - Trumps Mexican laser beam - There is more pressing matters to attend too in our time, yet the Government spend millions on “Space Projects”.

    • It is certainly cool, but completely impractical for anything outside the solar system. As for just inside the solar system manned exploration might never be practical.

      • It's very important, I'll agree. But I won't do the exploring as space scares the -blam!- out of me.

        • Literally the most important thing right now, we could literally just mine the asteroid belt for fresh water if we finally run out one day. Along with a ton of other precious metals. The only thing we probably wont find in space is oil, so that's what should be the most preserved until we've got a replacement.

        • Solve the problems on this planet first. Space travel is inevitable, but only if we are completely United.

        • Well, we never know what’s out there. It could make up for the cost when we discover a new resource, or on the other hand it could be a waste of money or worse! I think we should explore.

          • Space exploration has given us technologies we use in everyday life. NASA’s budget is only 0.5% of the federal budget and should be much higher. https://www.nasa.gov/topics/benefits/index.html

            • We are explorers by nature...and it is "The Final Frontier". Also I believe it was either Arthur Clarke or Carl Sagan who said that our survival depends on growing beyond being a one-planet civilization. So we must push out there, lest we----literally---risk going the way of the dinosaurs.

              • Anything that advances our knowledge of the universe is worth doing. There doesn’t need to be a practical or monetary advantage to doing it. It’s worthwhile doing just for the sake of curiosity. I mean, looking down on the atmosphere of Jupiter and seeing things no one in history had ever seen before is surely got to be worth doing right?
