"...what our core community wants."
This statement is everything about Bungie, right now. It absolutely encapsulates in a nebulous shell everything that is wrong with Bungie to the wider community and all the things that are right with Bungie to their core communities.
At once, the detractors are left to wonder who are Bungie's core community while allowing individual core communities who embrace Bungie to identify with them.
It's a masterful turn of phrase that does nothing to advance the game while increasing Bungie's esteem in the eyes of the fervently faithful.

core community = Streamers
-
I hear Stevie Nicks: Bungie only loves you when you're streaming. Players who play solo are only dreaming Casuals, they may come and they may go When they sweaties sweat too hard you'll know. You will know.
-
Yeah. I caught that too.
-
The Annual Pass owners are the core community. Of course they are going to focus most of the new content towards them. Wtf are you on about.
-
I have the Annual pass and havent played since before Black Armory... nor will i be over the next couple seasons.
-
Throw money at that screen =P
-
I actually like Luke Smith... lol

-
I own the Annual Pass and I don’t see a single thing in Season of the Drifter that’s worth doing.
-
Edited by TheArtist: 2/28/2019 9:43:56 PMWell then. In that case, Bungie is ignoring their core community. 1. I have zero interest in competitive Gambit. 2. I'm tired of all the game's PVE content being TIMED. 3. I've been screaming for 5 months now that Enhancement cores need to be taken out of the game's infusion economy. 4. The game's PVP activities need SBMM back. O-for-the-effort on Bungie's part.
-
They aren't doing anything about the enhancement cores being taken out of anything was stated awhile back although the feedback on cores was passed onto the teams it's not something their teams are going to do anything about
-
I'm aware of that. Which is IGNORING the problems that cores are creating in the game. Which will renew themselves once the level cap is raised again. The grind for the armor in The Reckoning is going to be downright obnoxious trying to juggle multiple versions of them, all while having your ability to use them bottle-necked by lack of cores.... ....in a competitive game mode where power matters. Its going to be a TRAIN WRECK for the average player.

Wtf are you on about.
Lol, “core community” More like the only community left. 14 million players, 300-500k actively playing. The core left, Bungie’s currently running on the hopes and dreams of the residual crap that settles at the bottom of the tank once it starts emptying out.

I own the AP and I can't say that something being sold on a "sweatier Gambit" and yet another timed horde mode is really exciting me, so, they're missing their aim if they think that's what we all wanted.
-
The majority of the Annual Pass holders I know dislike Gambit, so I'm pretty sure the last thing we wanted was an entire Season/DLC centered around Gambit.
-
When you purchased the Annual Pass....what did you think the "Season of the Drifter" was about.
-
Gambit. Why did you think so many of us were anxious about Season 6??
-
I see an awful lot of posts by disgruntled AP owners. I'm not sure the Pass holders are the core community Bungie are referring to.
-
I'm an AP holder and I sure as hell wish I could get my money back.
-
I hear you. I stop short of wishing I had my money back. I look at being disappointed in money spent on a game akin to going to a bad movie. Chances are, I won't spend on that again.
-
No one ever said that any Bungie isn’t gifted at PR doublespeak. They call their commercials “ViDocs” even though they don’t document anything but their new sales pitch.
core community
Do you suppose they'll define what that term actually means?
-
Doubt it - I'm still waiting for them to define 'hobby' since that was a word they used a lot during the PR stint for the Forsaken.
