In the wake of the Spiderification of Banshee, I realize that no one is really going to care about these still.
Infusion is a meaningful choice, it always was. Trying to make it some sort of huge deal has made it just a brain dumbing choice that incentivizes "the only winning move is not to play".
It's insulting to player investment when the basic grinding they have put in by playing the game does nothing for them in the long run on the most basic of systems. Infusion is one of those systems. It starts a chore and ends as something simple since you played so much. Infusion is integral to progression in Destiny and a day one core player should never have this much of a problem with this.
Want an example?:
I don't have to grind freaking Ferrite in Warframe once a week to be able to continue using the foundry 2+ years in.
Literally all of the basic materials in that game reward investment for having played longer.
The dev team has basically admitted that infusion is basically free if cores are removed
An infusion system with no scarcity around the materials would diminish this impact.
This is very false however considering new players.
Consider infusion from the perspective of someone who never sucked shards from a fountain of tokens over the last year.
Little tokens = little shard count
Little shard count means no mat farm from spider
Little shard count means little shard count to infuse with
Infusion by default is a meaningful choice then for someone who is either new or never actually grinds
Over a year's worth of grinding, the game's core power increase shouldn't be some sort of nightmare for us.
Think about a new player, not even a casual:
They are basically never masterworking anything, period.
They are never infusing anything since:
They barely got materials
They barely got tokens
They barely got shards
AND
They barely got cores......
Why is this last one here again? Meaningful choice? More like preventing choice.
The best strategy for leveling in this game is, do milestones as long as RNG as mercy on your soul, stockpile the top things in the vault, infuse duplicates along the way, get max gear.\
Then just then could you consider spending infusion cores on things that might as well just wait it out longer since the cap will raise itself anyway and wasting cores on that stuff is a fool's errand if the item is underused.
And it's all made worse by understanding how these 'extra' cores will be used
If you guys can track where they are going, can you tell us the proportion of masterwork to infusion?
I bet it's scary, and no increase in cores will change it.
JUST GET THEM OUT
The role of MASTERWORK cores in Destiny 2 is for Masterworks
That's why you made them, that's how we liked them, that's how they should stay.
Do we need a hashtag for this to summarize even further?
#coresremovechoice
Idk if that's good
