Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • There are over 4k posts on this. I have read hundreds of them. I have yet to read one that supports this infusion process or the economy that fuels it. I think everyone should put your controller's down for the next season. Play something more meaningful and rewarding like Minecraft. Bet they will fix the issue by time season ends then. LMAO 😂 🤣😂 🤣😂 🤣 Just saying.

You should pin this post. I’ve got nothing but positive feedback from people on all sides of the issue. EDIT: given the huge disparity in activity between this pinned post and the poll, seems like it would be helpful to turn this thread into numbers. I mean, if the intent is a continued discussion, isn’t it best to know where everyone stands? Otherwise, what is this for?

        • How has Bungie messed things up this bad? You had a fantastic progression system in place with D1...some things aren't broken and dont need fixing. The state of Destiny 2 is pretty bad right now. I was super excited for Gambit Prime. I got my 21% Delirium but now I'm burnt out on gambit and have no desire to play it. Strikes are stale and boring now. Nightfalls are kind of a joke. Crucible is so broken that it may not be fixable now, even with The Luna/NF nerfs inbound. The activities we do, and the time it takes to do them, are simply not rewarding...7 waves of EP and I get blues...wow. Blind Well...blues, strikes...blues, nightfall...blues....gambit...blues...reckoning...blues...blues blues blues. The loot pool is so restricted now that it creates no incentive to play these activities. My time is usually spent doing strikes and EP because they still can be fun with friends. This new quest for Outbreak was a sigh of relief and fun to do. Raids are still awesome...but everything else? I'm having more fun playing old NES games rather than grinding for nothing in Destiny 2.

          • Infusion was never meaningful. Why? Because this game lives on players hunting for godrolls. When going into to new content they will obviously pick the god rolled weapon/armor to lnfuse.

Sorry we couldn't address the enhancement core issue, we were busy recycling another D1 exotic.

              • I have 100s and infuse what i want, when i want. I think they're too easy to get, and find the whole debate fairly pointless.

                • Why replace Scrapper bounties? Those are great for when I’m playing pvp. What was great about them is that I never had to fly 10 min into a tower lobby to get them. Also i dont worry about actively pursuing them as the pvp ones just complete easy just by playing. Why take this away? Just ADD more ways to get them.

So when we get to 5000, we get a response? Or more silence? It doesn’t really matter anymore from my perspective. I don’t think there is anything Bungie could say or do to bring me back to play D2, let alone purchase another DLC or game from you, Bungie. Congratulations, your intractability on this, along with other issues and the previous attempts at deception throughout D2 Year1, has created that much resentment that even if D3 was -blam!-ing perfect, I’d probably not buy it out of sheer spite, contempt and rancour. And let’s face it, D3 will be far from perfect. However I’m still here, so I’d like to be proved wrong. Due to the simple fact that I fell in love with the franchise from the first time I booted up D1 and D2 hasn’t managed to kill that feeling yet. I really want you to succeed, Bungie, and create a game that is worthy of our time that we invest in it.

This change isn't nessessary, make it so a fully masterworked weapon or armour doesn't need enhancement cores to infuse

                      • If your not gonna remove the cores .. then along with the bounties make each milestone on the director drop a core upon completion .. for one it gives people a reason to run milestones after they are max light .. I mean 1 core per milestone isn't much but it's a start .. you guys are gonna have to give us a few more ways of getting them or this discussion is never gonna end .. All you did with scrapper bounties is move them to banshee that's not a fix .. if you player an hour or so a day you usually get a couple scrapper bounties by dismantling..

How hard is it to remove the cores or put them back the way they were for masterworking only. Or is it because bungie didn't come up with the idea first so they refuse to change it.

                      • So are you just going to keep evaluating feedback till d3? Or are we (Bungie) going to step up to the plate?

                      • correct me if im wrong I thought forsaken was created to help casual players to turn into hardcore players, these enhancement act as a barrier of entry for those type of people, or those who have given up on d2 due to its horrible launch. This was not the case in D1 where gear required legendary marks and motes of light, and you get those just by playing the game, dismantling legendary weapons, completing nightfalls. As for motes of light you just get those by playing the game, so why are enhancement cores are not only rare but also twice as expensive than motes of light in infusement? To those saying its supposed to be a meaningful choice, what do you mean by meaningful, like I can see it in destiny 1 cause you actually can customize how your character plays, but there is no actual build diversity for some of these weapons, than say a game like Borderlands or hell the old Diablo, the skill tree is still barebones and too basic thus no choice to be had, other than do I want to infuse this crappy gun into a more reliable weapon I've used and had had a good roll. Honestly these enhancement cores can easily be used for microtransactions because of there scarcity, and amount required to infuse a piece of gear is quite expensive, hell the company NetEase, the same guys that helped with diablo immortal invested about 100M to Bungie, could that be destiny 2 or 3 i don't know just a mere theory to keep an eye on.

                      • Remember in D1 your first public event of the day would drop a legendary engram .. why not do the same thing .. or somthing like do 3 public events a day and it rewards 5 enhancement cores a day .. it's alot but it's something to log in for
