Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

WHY are we still talking about cores?!? This is mind boggling... how about some uproar on lack of (new) content? e.g. running through a forest, I mean spring garden, i mean whatever it will be next time around, is not fun. Dont know about you but I am sick of this constant "grinding". It is a total waste of time, especially on pinnacle weapons which only get nerfed later on. Seriously ENOUGH with the cores. Spend your allowance responsibly. Geez..

I just got an idea. Maybe you could add enhancement core drops to the public events, make the public events even more difficult than heroic and then maybe you could get 2 enhancement cores from every event. (At least one event on every planet should be maybe level restricted and more difficult than heroic) Just an idea though. :) I also would like to be able to choose which exotic I want, just like it seems you could do in Destiny 1... I can't seem to get the Crimson atm. :(

      • Hi there I was wondering if there will be one more Iron Banner before the start of season 7. At 1016 kills towards the Hard Death emblem.

        • The amount of enchancement core drops are fine and frankly I really like scrapper bounties. The ability for them to come from dismantling blue drops makes them more worthwhile. It is directlt related to actually play amount despite the rng attached. The problem is the way they can get burned out with every power level increase.

          • QOL UPDATE. Unless you triple the core income and tie it directly to the things we need to do for those powerful drops it's pretty much going to piss everyone off more. Great mod components. Wait I get those from Ada. Now if there were only someway to purchase the mobs we actually want. Like the gunsmith selling 5 weapon and 5 armor at a time and rotating daily. Then sometime during the week the one I want will show up. Just saying

          • I personally dont really have a problem with cores anymore, you can get 21 from hawthorne every week arcoss 3 characters, buy 2 everyday from spider + the ones you get by just playing or spidersbounties. If you dont use em like a madman and only infuse when its needed (if it gets a overal light increase of 10) you wont run out as quick. I used about 80cores to get all my 3characters to 700 with the pieces of gear i care about. Iam now at a steady amount of 110cores.

            • But does it require an annual pass? It shouldn't. You guys ( in my opinion) nailed the revelry, it is/was a good event that more importantly did not require the annual pass.

250 days since the ridiculous decision to implement cores into infusion, with the pre-Forsaken patch. 72 days since I have played Destiny 2. I’ve gone from playing everyday for at least 1-2hours, being a raid Sherpa in D1 and D2 Vanilla, to being too bored to even log in. It is the persistent and increasing attempts to control our playtime that has turned me off this game. Enhancement Cores are just the tip of the iceberg. With even more to do than in D1 AoT yet having a lower playerbase, speaks volumes. Why you ever “fixed” what wasn’t broken in regards to progression and the economy in D1, I’ll never understand. And I’ve been saying that since D2 Vanilla launched.

They are trash items. Trashy and bad game design, from a very trashy developer. Sadly.

                • I understand need to grind but the grind don’t reward us for playing... I don’t see how they cores help my guardians cause as I upgrade somehow the enemies get a buff or it feels like that and the cores don’t even increase anything. I masterwork an amour or a weapon don’t see how it helping...

                  • Weekly bounties should give more than one enhancement core! It’s should be more like 5! Then a mode component or legendary

Anyone else get the Bungie survey today? Seems like they're possibly taking things seriously. Edit* As I've been laying here watching Penn & Teller I got to thinking maybe I would recommend the game to new players (I said "no" on the survey). If you don't know any better, and you're not a lifer, Destiny 2 has enough in it to keep you occupied for quite awhile. BUT if you decide to really get stuck in you're going to notice the "broken" bits, and it'll dampen your day after awhile.

History is screaming at us to be more specific about what we want. If the preferred solution is to remove cores from infusion, or if the acceptable compromise is to implement D1 leveling allowing cores as an alternate level system, we need to also demand that those solutions not be tampered with in the future. It won’t make any difference if they remove cores, or revert to D1 leveling, only to implement some other suppressing mechanic. This isn’t he first time something like this has happened.

                        • Why do we need these new bounties at all? Unlike many, I dont actually think the problem is with the way that cores are needed for infusion and masterworking. I try to limit the number of cores I use by infusing the same weapon into my saved best roll (which doesnt cost any cores) when I am levelling up and then only infusing my favourite gear when I get to max power level for the season. I have plenty of masterworked weapons but have few masterworked armour pieces. The problem really is not with the system but more with the economy, if you need cores you need to stop what you are doing and go off to do something time consuming that will only reward you with 1 core. If you just made every activity that counts towards a weekly milestone give you a set number of cores then people can get a few each week by just playing the game but if they want to get a specific number to fully masterwork a weapon or a armour piece they would have a way to grind for it. So perhaps: 1 core for a Vanguard Strike, Crucible Match, Gambit Match, Gambit Prime 2 cores for a Nightfall, Tier 3 Reckoning 3 cores for a Raid If necessary you could put some limit on the number you can get from each source per week. But the average player would easily be able to earn 10-15 cores a week just by doing their weekly milestone activities and chose to either use them for infusion or masterworking, but they would still not be prevalent enough to mean that you would not think twice before you were to use them on something. This would also surely be an easy thing to do given it must be fairly simple to adjust the loot for an activity to include some cores.

Jesus just up how many cores the bounties give. Since you’re all insistent on not removing them at least give us more.

                            • Id like to see the cost of masterworking a peice of armor or weapon reduced. Its also very hard to tell the difference between a masterworked weapon and non.

                            • Why is it, that guardians will run last wish 100 times to get 1000 voices or run tree of probabilities 100 times to get DFA, but won't spend 20 mins to get cores. Seems kinda strange to me.

                                • 487.9K PVE players yesterday, despite there being an event based around PVE. 426.3K PVP players yesterday, despite there being Iron Banner. Across 3 consoles these numbers are terrible for a game, and even then they could just be people that logged in, and this is down from the 800k+ in each when forsaken launched and has been around the same numbers for months now and this down from the...oh...14.3m players from launch... You guys keep digging that hole for yourselves as your player base continues to hemorrhage though. It will be that much harder to get yourselves out of it when other games come and surpass you, not only in the quality of their content, but in the response times to issues and involvement with the players. Hope you have something great planned for D3, at this point only your fanboys are going to eat up another shitty release with very little content and stripped out, dumbed down, lesser features.
