Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • Remove enhancement cores from infusion. Lower the availability of enhancement cores. Change the name back to masterwork cores. And only require masterwork cores for masterworking items. This would accomplish your goal of making “meaningful decisions” while upgrading your gear without pissing off a majority of your player base. Please and thank you.

  • Imo we should have the cores drop more frequently, I have mastered a lot of stuff and usually dismantle the gear and there has been a lot of cores on my Titan and now Im back to 2 cores on my Titan, feel free to look lol. :) But you should make every bounty drop 2 cores if you ask me. I wanna thank you Bungie for a wonderful game at the same time, I really like Destiny 2.

  • I’ll just keep this a simple as I can. When a game feels like a chore just to progress, it stops being fun or entertaining. Enhancement cores are only part of the issue. I could name numerous games where time versus reward is 10 times better than what is currently going on with Destiny 2.

You guys were sure quick to fix that enhancement core exploit. Can't help but notice when you guys have an issue with something in the game it gets taken care of In a couple days, but when it's a long standing issue people have been complaining about for months you address it at a speed which would make a snail seem like a bullet train.

      • My question is this. No disrespect intended. If the solution to the core issue is to increase the amount available until this isn't an issue, why not just remove them? At the end of this all, it will end at the same place. Either there will be so many cores that they aren't meaningful ( not that I agree that it's meaningful anyway lol) or they will be removed as the whole infusion system will need replacing. So why not just remove them from infusion, and move them back to being solely used for masterworking?

        • Still disappointed in this. It seems like a compromise is being pushed on the community when the consensus has given their thoughts on the matter, and that is to remove enhancement cores from the infusion process completely.

        • I will restate my opinion here... I get that you want us to make meaningful choices. You want to move away from how easy the game was in year 1. However, I think that you made a bad choice on this issue... all because those who made it don't seem to understand how we play the game. So, let me try to summarize it for you... When I make a character in this game, I (and many many others) want to be able to have several *viable* builds available to meet the needs of different activities. I like having different outfits and sets of gear. But, the addition of "cores" makes achieving that a chore... it's not just a grind but a chore. Because I need to use "cores" in every aspect of my gear, I do not have a proper set of fully masterworked gear on any character at this time... because I have to split my focus. My focus is split on THREE different needs... 1. Leveling up my gear. 2. Completing all of the various "quest lines" Destiny offers to acquire the gear I want. 3. Helping my friends do all of the same. The way *your* system is right now... I am forced to grind more and enjoy the game less. And, I actually feel guilty that I have to keep so much focus on grinding because it takes away the joy of experiencing all the fun Destiny offers. You need to reverse course and return masterwork cores to their original purpose. Infusion should only require planetary resources. *Upgrading* the stats of gear is what should require masterwork cores.

          • No this new system is tedious and only benefit those who want to waist 2 hours a day doing the same thing 7 days a week

          • Although I believe this is a step in the right direction I still think Cores should ONLY be for masterworking weapons and armor. Nothing more.

          • This sounds like you’re still ignoring the feedback. Maybe you could run an internal pool on how low the player count needs to get before whoever’s holding out on this relents.

So what will you be doing in light of the exploit that pretty much has tanked this stupid economy? Let me guess, those with thousands and can infuse and masterwork whatever they want to and the rest of us can GRIND A WEEKLY BOUNTY FOR ONE CORE! ONE! That idea blows dead bears. Seriously did someone with a degree come up with that? Please bring the person who brought that up at the meeting to give us their logic because as the messenger boy you have not actually given us much around the reasoning for such a stupid decision. All I want to do is bring all the Eververse stuff I got through engram drops (love some of the warlock stuff) and be able to bump up whatever gun I feel like. Your system has vokol meaningfulness to it.

            • Rename enhancement core back to masterwork cores and go back to vanilla D2 infusion. D2 vanilla infusion was on the short list of things that were done right.

The stubbornness of devs on this matter is beyond belief. People want cores removed from infusion. I personally think that lowering the amount of cores requirement to 1 per infusion, 5 to fully master work armour, 15 for weapon, and increasing the sources to acquire cores would be enough. But that is just my opinion. I also would like to see the re roll master work mechanic return for weapons and armour, like it was at the end of year 1. In the mods matter, why not replace the useless telemetry that ghosts give us for mods? I receive about 10 to 15 telemetries per week. If all of that were mods I’ld be happy.

            • Wow, this is just stupid. Y’all really love those cores and forcing “impactful” choices on players and making this game more of a chore. Can’t wait to see how you sell the new September annual pass.

              • What would make this super nice for the countless people that struggle bus with cores. Make it..... 1 weekly deals with crucible (dont go too deep with the weekly requirement or else you will have the pve only players complain too much) Other weekly General pve content. Dailies should consist of: Grenade kills(pve) Melee kills(pve) Super kills(pve) Kinetic kills(pve/pvp) Crucible kills/assists 15 Crucible super kills 5 List goes on. Or Make them all pve. (I play both sides so it doesn't matter to me) Nothing too specific/time consuming like 50 super kills in a strike or 15 grenade kills in crucible. Since cores are a general use item their bounties should reflect that. Count it as a daily login like some people asked for😂.

                • It broke my heart to tell my cousin she couldn't use her favorite cloak because she needed to get cores to infuse it. The core economy might not affect hardcore players but it does affect casual and new players.

                      • I recognize that you have all of the feedback in the world at this point, but please make sure to keep updating us with any changes. I just want to be able to grind to earn cool gear instead of grinding to use cool gear that I’ve already earned. I’d much rather you bring back the leveling for individual weapons, at least that made the weapon feel more personal.

                      • I personally think cores should be removed from standard infusion. It’s painful. But I think you should have the option to infuse with cores to get additional benefits. Enhanced infusion. Like, have them upgrade “hand gun loader” to “enhanced hand gun loader” if infusing while using a core. Maybe add additional benefits to “enhance” your gear while infusing rather then adding excessive grind just to play the game and get stronger. Maybe use them to create enhanced weapon/armor mods. Maybe use them as part of competing exotics masterwork requirments. I dislike needing cores to properly get to a power level to survive content and think there are better opportunities for their use to “enhance” equipment then just to get a few extra light points.
