Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/47706]TWAB[/url]. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change. [quote]• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.[/quote] The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • I personally think cores should be removed from standard infusion. It’s painful. But I think you should have the option to infuse with cores to get additional benefits. Enhanced infusion. Like, have them upgrade “hand gun loader” to “enhanced hand gun loader” if infusing while using a core. Maybe add additional benefits to “enhance” your gear while infusing rather then adding excessive grind just to play the game and get stronger. Maybe use them to create enhanced weapon/armor mods. Maybe use them as part of competing exotics masterwork requirments. I dislike needing cores to properly get to a power level to survive content and think there are better opportunities for their use to “enhance” equipment then just to get a few extra light points.

Kind of even things out, I think your team calls it balance. If done it will be one balance no one complains about Standing by

      • The question is... What will you do now that the economy is jacked? Players have 10,000 or more cores while others have zero. Will you gift a 1000 cores to each player? Will you remove cores from INFUSION? What will you do?

        • So is bungie going to actually do anything about those who exploited the pinnacle weapons for cores? Some individuals have a thousand or more, which makes i fusion absolutely meaningless.

          • Dmg4...can you provide the name of the person or persons in charge of the D2 core economy? "Bungie Devs" seems very general when it is very likely an individual or small group making the decision to keep cores for infusion. Is there an economy team? If not, please explain the process that our feedback goes through. I appreciate your efforts as the middle- man in this unfortunate conflict.

          • There is no discussion The community wants them gone Bungie designers want them to stay Both sides are unwilling to compromise. The stalemate will produce resentment on both sides and the situation will only get worse Prediction, Bungie will remove them for people who buy year 3 season pasd

            • Damn... some of the people against core removal are getting SALTY! Though I can't complain, it's good fun having them try to prove their points, even when their arguments resemble crap my kid said when he was 6 😂

            • Whats the point in calling it a discussion if your not going to engage with your playerbase? All you have done so far is repeat the same talking points all over again. We don't want more enhancement cores just to inflate our meaningless light level, we want them removed from infusion. I don't know why you insist on dying on the enhancement core hill. But for your own sake, its time for 'the team' to climb down and face reality.

                • This isn't a discussion, there is no back and forth dialogue. Tone deaf and one sided. Anyways masterwork cores are not a problem for me i have 320. But they hurt the casuals and make them stop playing, and this hurts the game. All matchmaking takes more longer, less friends online. I don't even know if it is worth posting this because at this rate the only time they remove them from infusion is in d3, and it will he advertised as a revolutionary change in gameplay.

                  • You know what, leave scrappers alone, or even increase the cores le bounty. Plz. It's my main source. And I dont want cores gone from infusion I am a casual, there.. I play pvp and gambit rarely, and have a avg 1.4 efficiency. I enjoy ranged combat and last resort cqb finishers (i.e ttactor cannon, perfect paradox, liars handshake) 90 percent of my time I do strikes or search for a perfect pve mission to scratch my halo itch. I even have a gun I call my halo gun. I felt freaking Awesome when I got it up to 699. No, literally, it made the choice really hard. Here I have a gun with almost 10k kills, I've broken them down before...RIP duke(rampage AP round Outlaw 11k kills)... I will never forget... But here we go again. I got a nice bow, at 699.. Itll cost 2 to infuse... Pffft. Or I can gain cores if I switch, Allowing me to change up my loadout to suit the new addition. But then again I'd have to get lucky and find that armor, Welll.. I kept it, My halo gun is a black scorpion, rampage, hipfire, dropmag. Backup mag. Steady barrel, reload MW. Basically like halo, I never have to switch weapons...this gun does it all.. So anyways. I leveled it to 699, basically saying..this is my gun..every thing else is expendable. I even broke down 2 mwd perfect paradoxes only to have one again.lol Choosing the liars handshake over the sealed ahamkaras...big choices..because the cores arent dropping like rain, I've got enough to decide carefully... I use the same loadout for everything, so, these choices and costs are falling directly in line with how I play Today I tentatively brought the majority of my gear to lvl 4. I have six cores left...3 peices of lvl 4 gear..one masterworked and the exotic. I have my halo gun maaterworked. Paradox can wait.. I am trying to get a grave robber auto fire shotty. For majors in pve Anyways. The cores for infusion created a kind of strict build for me...I had to focus on the long game of how i wanted to play my character.. Now I am well aware of my need to avoid solar damage...as I have no armor for that, but i can walk through a hail of void and arc and be tickled at best. The cores made me very aware of exactly how my armor and weapons affect my gameplay options. Seriously...after looking at it...it just made me pay more attention to my character creation But theres my only beef. I want more to use my cores on.. Stop letting me break down mwd.gear Make more development for cores. Add badges to guns that unlock ornaments for cores to enhance the appearance. After so many badges and a unique looking legendary gun, Unlock a new perk, with options like. HP syphon. Or Intermittent wall hacks when scoped. Or Rpm overclock Or Mag increase. Or You get the idea. Some perk that turns your coveted God roll, adorned with its conquests badges and associated appearance upgrades(think bayonet for melee kills while holding this weapon) , into a niche exotic. Make it cost 10 cores a level.. For instance For PVE masterworks HP syphon : headshot kills grant 2 percent HP recovery. Unlock for 10 cores. Must have completed five badges. HP syphon upgrades 4 times, to a total benefit of 10 HP per precision kill For PVP masterworks TRACKER Pro: aiming down sights highlights targets, targets remain highlighted for .5 seconds after loss of sight or releasing aim. Cost 10 cores to unlock, must complete 5 badges (which are different on a pvp gun) Tracker pro upgrades 4 times to give a 2.5 second wall hack when you stop aiming at the target. These are just 2 perks that would make a world of difference... And make spending cores affect the gun and enhance it. This is all I want. And my scrappers. If you're not busy.

                  • I think this will solve the Core problems, Just let Xur sell consumables with Legendary Marks ex: RainMaker, Pure MatterGlass Lens and most importantly for Cores "Finest MatterWeave".

                  • This is from the perspective of someone that has a decent amount of play time each day 2-5 hours a day I personally don't think enhancement cores should be involved in infusion unless you drop the cost to 1 these cores main function should be to master work gear and weapons. I haven't had the opportunity to do this to any of my gear since year 1 because each piece of desireable gear I obtain I try to infuse into max light which leaves me with no cores to master work. Another option make spider sell cores for a standard price of 20 legendary shards.

                    • You guys should have given a free core with every Edge Transit drop. I haven't played in awhile and am not even sure if the Edge Transit still drops at all.

                        • It’s more taking to a brick wall than a discussion in all honesty. But to compare this to d1, cores are the equivalent of motes of light in the infusion system. If we got cores when we level up, the problem would be a lot less prevalent

                        • I am what many would consider a "casual" but hardcore player. I literally play around 3 hours a night every single night. I'm out of cores and could care less about doing more bounties. Busy work bounties just suck. I'm assuming I'm the kind of person you want to buy this game. I'm already in on the annual pass. I do feel though that this hasn't exactly been what I thought I was getting. Enhancement cores are systemic of a core problem with your game. Make better perks and loot. Then maybe I would use what drops and not even care about infusion. I play this game because it literally has the snappiest feeling shooting mechanics of any game out there and I tip my hat to you for that. The economic systems in this game though and your design choices make someone that loves the feel of the game dread playing it. Thats just sad.

                        • Okay second bite at the cherry I'll be man enough to say sorry about telling you to stick it up your ass earlier but honestly you bungie folks are extremely frustrating So on the positive side your system above seems to offer a more plentiful supply source for this material and particularly like the concession of not stripping us of gunsmith materials for bounties On the negative side you still don't understand that players are happy to grind to masterwork gear BUT NOT to infuse gear, especially considering the annual pass keeps bumping up power levels and just keeping your favourite gear becomes a grind, please read this thread in it's entirety this is what the problem is for the majority of players Proposed solution: Leave your new core drop system in place and let us masterwork more of our favourite gear and scrap this god awful infusion core scheme that's doing nothing for anyone

                        • I mean at least make fully masterwork items including exotics free to upgrade It's reeeealy hard to upgrade one character regarding light and masterwork , not to mention 3 characters

                        • I tend to run out of planatary mats as much as cores. But spider sells the mats reasonably so I eventually get back a pile of those. But I’m not spending more than 20 shards on one core.
