Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • They need to be more readily available. They need to drop from any weekly bounty and and any powerful engram. We should be getting 2 a day without buying them from that fat turd on the tangled shore.

Still no mention on the COST of these bounties. I'm guessing the following: 500 or 1K Gunsmith materials for each daily bounty. 5k for each weekly bounty. Any other guesses? Note: Updated post to reflect cost changes.

    • Thanks to their incompetence the whole core economy is broken and I bet they have no solution for that . They probably notified all the PVP elitists and the Streamers about the exploit so they could get a further underhand on the normal people. But once it got out the PVP elitists and the Streamers got pissed and told Bungholio to shut it down.

    • I’ve often spoken out in Bungie defense as I see a lot of the hate they receive is unwarranted. But this? This is just disrespectful to the player base. Why would we waste our time on a weekly that awards the same thing (nearly) as a daily? Like bruh ima just stick to my matterweaves

If you’re not going to listen to the community at least, about how the cores actually ruin the game as a nuisance/time gate to how we want to look or play, at least change one of those bounties or all of them for core rewards. If a daily bounty rewards 1 core barely anyone will do these bump it up to 2, maybe 3 at least. The weekly I thought was a damn good joke there. 1 core 1 single core for a weekly activity? You’ve got to be kidding me, bump that up to a MINIMUM 7 cores max 10. I think those are actually fair values for a WEEKLY activity. The better option would be just remove them and make the other materials more in demand and leave these cores to their original purpose for masterworking an item, BUT you guys refuse to do it for some of the most ridiculous reasons.

Bungie cam we please get rid of enhancement cores, so we can move on to removing materials and glimmer for upgrading weapons. Also I'm so tired of reading that everyone and the majority of people want to get rid of cores. You are an extreme minority.

    • The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them. I wouldn't mind using the cores so much if the Masterwork items gave something a little better. At the moment it's hard to see why anyone would go to all that effort for such a small reward for their efforts. While we are here what happened to the rework of the Hunters rifles. Hunters rifles are like shooting with a Pea shooter. While i am having a moan . I bought Forsaken only to be told i have to pay again to play the best bits of it. You people never learn. Here you go guys we made some new stuff, Pay us and dont forget you have to pay for it again if you want to use it. Is it any wonder the Player Numbers are falling fast than you can say give us more money.

Why does the weekly and the daily reward the same amount of cores? Lol is this a joke?

      • As someone with enough time to play to have cores to spare (and the patience to wait for the same but higher drops so infusion only costs glimmer), the cores aren’t my issue. I get the current infusion system is to make the choice to infuse/masterwork a piece of gear meaningful. However, the current rewards for that are not worth the cost. Masterworking armor is no where near worth the small bonus you get. Guns are better due to the orb generation but even then, you end up having to wait for a god roll because you don’t get the same number of cores back if you find something better later. Infusing to reach max power? Nothing but a nuisance. There’s a 2-4 key pieces I’ll infuse as I go but not unless it’s at least a 10 pt increase. Most of the time I’ll just use what I get or wait til I get the same drop so I can infuse just for glimmer. I’d say keep the cores but change them back to masterwork cores and make them only for masterworking (not infusing) while increasing the masterwork bonus to actually make it worth doing. Make it so we feel like it was worth spending the cores and the time to make the piece of gear extra special

      • I abhor stupidity. Unfortunately for me... I love Destiny. To be this slow and thick-headed only reaffirms what I have come to realise over the last several years, bungie is not the right developer for Destiny. They understand it represents 'this value' but not how to access it. They take every wrong turn. Pursue every one-way... cheapening the experience all the live long day. Well, time to throw the franchise in reverse yet again... this path is a dead-ender. I might just add, it's just not the cores... I mean it is but, it isnt. It's every stupid decision you made, on top, of every stupid decision-- you made which has led the community here. Cores are the fulcrum on which the future of bungie rests... How can't you see this? Stupidity.

      • I feel like if you wanna keep Enhancement Cores, weekly bounties should reward like 7 cores along the mod and mod components. 2 Weekly Bounties and 5 daily Bounties should be enough for Solo players as I only have 40 Cores that's because I saved a lot since October 2018. Please, at least 7 cores per weekly bounty.

      • Why the hell would anyone to a WEEKLY BOUNTY for 1 core?! They would need to drop at least 5 to 10 core to sole the problem. Get your head out of your ass Bungie.

Dont say you are evaluating feedback. You said this last time and still plan to move forward with your agenda. So really you arent evaluating feedback, because if you were you would have seen that a majority of players think your idea is bad and that cores should be removed from infusion. Now there are people running around with hundreds of cores because of an exploit that broke the economy. So now those people arent even going to play your content for cores because they already have hundreds. Remove cores and you fix the problem, the exploit wouldnt have been such a major issue and people could claim their weapons. Now infusion isent "meaningful" because people are stacked with cores. Now your economy only hurts those who werent able to cash in on the exploit. Bungie you are creating these problems yourself and you refuse to listen to the people who have been with you from the beginning of Destiny or the Halo days that are trying to do you a favor by saying "this is a bad idea." The first step in fixing a problem is realizing you have one. By seeing that cores in infusion are not a problem is the downfall to your pride, and its driving players away everyday. In my profession I would probably be fired if I didnt listen to outside feedback and criticism to make the project better for its audience and their experience. Your data doesent reflect how we feel playing your game, and using that to make decisions is whats led to where you are now with these half-baked expansions and re-skin events. Your game is supposed to be a looter shooter but most of the loot we can earn comes from Eververse and cash purchases. Data is not the way to make decisions, interaction with your player-base is the only way. Heres to another month before we hear anything back, just drag your feet till D3. Classic Bungie play.

      • So when the majority of the community says Remove enhancement cores from infusion what bungie heard was we want to buy the stupid bounties with glimmer instead of gunsmith materials, and the whole one bounty gives one core is bs not worth the time doing most of the scrapper Bounties are not worth doing , and the weekly bounties will only grant one core why not 3 or 4 if it’s a weekly OR you could do what the community wants and remove then from infusion.

        • IF you implement this... make it so we can get bounties from anywhere. STOP making players visit the tower and vendors. I can fly FTL, have subspace communication, am immortal..... but for some dumb reason I have to visit some useless dreg of a NPC to pick up a bounty?!

        • ENHANCEMENT CORES I believe enhancement cores should be removed from regular infusion and ONLY be used for Masterworking weapons/armor. MASTERWORK PERK/EXOTIC ARMOR PERKS The ability to reroll masterwork perks should be a thing, as well as having the ability to reroll exotic armor perks in “preview” that way we’re not stuck on waiting until Friday for Xur, but even so Xur would act like a “bonus day” for us because we could buy missed exotics. MOD COMPONENTS Mod components are okay right now. You guys really need to add more (impactful/creative) variety. PLANETARY TOKENS/MATERIALS Let me mention to the Bungie Devs that, planetary tokens should have stayed. I don’t know why you guys “thought” turning in my material *which I desperately need for infusion* to increase my planetary vendor would be such a good idea in the long run when it actually held and is holding us back silently. THE SPIDER The Spider is great and all and his timer should be halved in my opinion or maybe just kept the same. QUALITY OF LIFE/QUESTS (For future reference) Quests that “require” a player to go back and speak with an NPC to only receive some dialogue is the worst. A completion of each quest step should also be impactful, at least reward your players with bonus experience or materials related to that quest. IMMERSIVE STORY/GAME DESIGN At this moment I understand Destiny is Destiny, a game of its own. Also the majority of your core Destiny players remember the Vault of Glass. Every bit and piece of that experience had a connection to the player base, the reason would probably be because it was tied to OUR mythology, something we were familiar with. You connected with your player base and it was perfect. Implying something similar in future content could actually have some positive results. Take all of this from someone who plays this game far longer than most originally would in a day. I’ve taken enough time to point out some mistakes. But I know you Devs will get it right...eventually.
