Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

    • Ah, preferred the weapon parts for bounties, over glimmer. I have endless stacks of weapon parts, and am often broke glimmer wise.

1 core for dailies is nice but weekly? If the challenges are long and tedious, nobody will bother. I guess the objective is for the mod but what about scrapping them? Scrapping mods for components? It takes 10 components to make 1 mod but scraps down to only 1 component. Makes getting random mods from Ada-1 painfully irritating. Lost count on how many Radar Boosters I've gotten now. Opening her inventory on a random rotation for direct purchase like Banshee should solve that problem. Edit: And what about Banshees insane price to get a weapon from him? 100 Gunsmith Materials is not even worth it, especially when that 1 item gives 3 Materials if its literal trash. Lowering the cost down a bit would be nice.

    • Hey dmg, i was wondering if you guys are going to add more weapons to the gunsmith any time soon? there's kinda no point right now to spend gunsmith parts because it's the same weapon pool since forsaken.

Let’s break things down to see there is no need for you to continue this matter as a discussion and what you/Bungie plans on doing are merely non-value added activities to further diminish players’ experience if there is any left.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer.
Are doing any bounties supposed to part of this game? Why do players have to “pay” for them with the loot they earned from playing to earn other loot or “reward” as you call it? Countless glimmers were lost due to low cap and numerous items (source of gunsmith material and glimmers) were also lost due to limited postmaster space.
• There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components
You made “mod” an issue by limiting its source similar to Ada-1’s weapon frames. Should all mods be available like those frames now and be acquired with either gun parts or mod material, there would not be any discussion/topic about it. Now you are making this “issue” a reward? I maybe lack of vocabulary on what to call it, but you just showed lacking of ability/capacity to make it right in the first place.
• There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
Creating new bounties that “reward” cores is no different than adding cores as “reward” on top of what you get from completing them, in most cases are glimmers, planet specific materials, powerful gear or whatever. Might as well list 5 cores next to powerful gear bounties or get 5 cores from dismantling a powerful gear which a lot of players do these days any way. Two cores out of two weekly bounties? Could you please offer 1-3/4 core from those 13-day bounties, so I can get less than 4 cores from completing two of those and make them account wise since it will probably take me 3 months to get two of those bounties on one character.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.
Please pass this on to your Dev Team, no one cares about the “impactful feeling” of using the Cores let alone spend time getting them if that’s how they felt when they made it so scarce through the coding. Think of the players as themselves that getting paid for simply doing your job is not rewarding; getting a bonus or promotion for getting something extraordinary done is a reward.

    • I think we both believe (me and you guys at Bungie) that honesty is always a highly appreciated quality that players expect from developers. With that said, I want to give you guys a free suggestion to a change that will reveal the function of cores in this game in a much more transparent, honest way for players, especially the new ones. - Change their name from "Enhancement Cores" to "Enhancement Chores".

      • For them this is meaningful progression. For me this is a pointless extra chore. If I didnt do spider bounties for one measly core, i dont know what makes them think i'd wanna do these. At this point its like beating a dead horse, and we've been at it for SEVEN MONTHS.

      • Seems like allot of busy work... Would have been better to just remove them from infusion all together. Then the cores would have your so called meaning, because you would need to grind for them to master work gear and weapons... Now depends how it plays out you may have just made it a wash...

      • Pretty sure the VAST majority of players find enhancement cores a chore, and not fun. I honestly never understood making them apart of the infusing process to begin with. The whole "if it isn't broken then don't fix it", saying really applies here. I doubt the dev team really cares at this point, and have just turned away from this thread altogether. So many valid discussions, and ideas have been given to correct what is obviously flawed, but still nothing.

        • Why can’t y’all go back to motes of light for infusion and leave cores for masterworking? What is the obsession with making one item pull double duty? Are y’all seriously not creative enough to recycle other old Destiny materials and rename them? I imagine y’all aren’t really doing anything about cores or the obvious displeasure a large number of people have with them and your tone deaf responses since you decided to force that on the community because you’re not selling anything right now. You’re still riding your less than stellar sales from 2018. Do the people at Bungie think that you’re going to convince new money to come into the game when you start hyping up the next content release that comes after the AP after pissing on your consumer and player base for these last 2 years? Motes of light for infusion. Sell them without the stupid price increase. If you won’t remove cores then we should get one or two with every level up. We should’ve received cores for completing weekly bounties, NF completions, Raids...etc. You never should’ve left cores up to RNG. You should’ve thought a little harder with a bit more forethought to how you were going to force the cores on your player base. You should’ve used more forethought when you created Destiny 2 tbh. You had 3 years of trial and error to learn what we wanted and you failed miserably.

          • I think I know what the problem is... I bet they CANT remove Cores. Remember each weapon had: and infusion slot, masterwork slot, mod slot, a shader slot, and (if energy based) an element slot. I bet, when they reworked the slots, they combined infusion & masterworking. Now, to fix the problem they would need to seperate the two. I will stipulate that is not an easy fix since they probably hard coded the number of available slots into the weapon system. I bet they cant just fix the issue. So, their only option is to increase the number of cores available to the point where the economy is fairly saturated. By fairly I mean saturated for all players and not just the exploiters.

              • Looks like you’re answer is here https://youtu.be/EatJxArKISs They simply need to be removed now. If you can’t see how broken this economy is now you will never see it. It’s also instantly made masterworking gear have no real meaning, so my idea of improving the masterwork system has gone out the window unless you change the currency needed.

              • Let us hope this weeks TWAB is going update us on the core issue and the crucible fixes you said are in the works. I know The Revelry is next week, but I can assure you, most of the community does not care, just like with Arc week, some of us don't care. So, please discuss the core issues in destiny. No pun intended.

              • The whole cores situation is becoming an unnecessary hot spot between Bungie and its players. Rightly or wrongly it’s something that is agitating players and Bungie’s responses are extending rather than closing the situation. It’s time for Bungie just to make this whole saga go away...

              • Let me try to understand: you create the enhancement cores to "make infusions meaningful", but now you have people with thousands of cores (the "best and brightest") and created a new and improved way to make enhancement cores more accessible. So, your point is? Why do no remove enhancement cores from the infusion instead of trying to fix the mess that is the economy?

I used to believe this games developers were some of the best in the industry, but this bull shit of a post confirms that you guys think the general player base is full of retards. With that being said, -blam!- this game! I honestly quit playing several weeks ago, but I have never really had a problem with cores. I do have a problem with your lack of desire to do anything to those who exploited the core system. I also find this new system of obtaining cores a slap in the face, as well as the stupidest joke I have ever heard. One core for a weekly bounty?!?!? Why in the hell would anyone grind a weekly bounty for one damn core?!?!? I don’t have the time to edit this post properly, plus typing on a phone is a huge pain in the ass. So excuse my errors.

Maybe if we all just came right out and said “what the -blam!- is wrong with you?! How the -blam!- do you not understand?? Just REMOVE the cores from the infusion process, and leave them for the Masterworking process!!” Maybe after I’m banned for using a more straightforward language, you’ll think about what everyone has been saying. -blam!- your stubborn attitude about cores. ✌️ out!

              • Bungie has created a TOXIC ENVIRONMENT Grind for Infusion cores. Bungie's fix: More bounties, more grind. Rewarding players with prime engrams and powerful gear 1 and 2 power levels higher than gear players are already using while equipped with gear 10 and 15 power levels lower. And it keeps happening OVER and OVER. I see these things making players miserable more and more. Players angry with each other, shooting each other in areas they can't even kill each other. Players purposely doing things to make other players even angrier: Following players, stealing their kills, standing or even dancing in the distance while others do all the work in an event and then reaping the rewards, Sabatoshing the events just to make them fail or unable to get the full potential or just unpleasant to even do. This just doesn't make sense. Killing a boss mob that gives you less than looting 3 to 5 chests IF the boss mob doesn't vanish before you kill it. Mercury is useless. Dreaming City gives you baryon bough that for the most part is useless. This is just a fraction of the things toxic in PVE. Now let's talk about the joke we call PVP. Aimbots, wall hangers, hunter infestation, Bailing and many things similar to the PVE section. I don't even play PVP anymore, so I'm sure I've overlooked a lot. It just seems like Destiny 2 is getting worse and worse every time Bungie touches it.
