Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • Bungie has created a TOXIC ENVIRONMENT Grind for Infusion cores. Bungie's fix: More bounties, more grind. Rewarding players with prime engrams and powerful gear 1 and 2 power levels higher than gear players are already using while equipped with gear 10 and 15 power levels lower. And it keeps happening OVER and OVER. I see these things making players miserable more and more. Players angry with each other, shooting each other in areas they can't even kill each other. Players purposely doing things to make other players even angrier: Following players, stealing their kills, standing or even dancing in the distance while others do all the work in an event and then reaping the rewards, Sabatoshing the events just to make them fail or unable to get the full potential or just unpleasant to even do. This just doesn't make sense. Killing a boss mob that gives you less than looting 3 to 5 chests IF the boss mob doesn't vanish before you kill it. Mercury is useless. Dreaming City gives you baryon bough that for the most part is useless. This is just a fraction of the things toxic in PVE. Now let's talk about the joke we call PVP. Aimbots, wall hangers, hunter infestation, Bailing and many things similar to the PVE section. I don't even play PVP anymore, so I'm sure I've overlooked a lot. It just seems like Destiny 2 is getting worse and worse every time Bungie touches it.

    • 1 core per weekly bounty? Really, guy? How bout this: it takes about 17 cores to fully MW a weapon from lvl 4-10. Have the weekly bounty give 8 cores. Thats 16 cores from just those 2 weeklys, thats 1 core shy of a full MW, of course assuming people do at least 1 daily to cover that gap. If you're not willing to remove cores, at least make em more common. Sidenote: Make the weekly bounties just things that we already do as part of the weekly rituals, like weapon multikills, or finish a strike/crucible match use a specific gun type. Keep it simple. Wont happen cuz we're not allowed to have nice things.

    • Bungle's solution to the core economy, now totally broken by there being many players who have thousands of cores while most players do not have enough to get by with, is like sending fire fighters to a roaring forest fire equipped only with the water inside their bladders to extinguish the flames with. You can't keep fighting this flame by pissing on it guys.

    • I might, just might, be satisfied with 3 cores for daily, and ten for weekly. I couldn’t give 2 craps about crucible or gambit points. They don’t give me anything! I literally couldn’t care less about the crucible loot system right now. I have over 2000 tokens just sitting their because the best thing from crucible is frieking steelsybil, the crusty sword that is pathetic in the current meta. Why would that motivate me more to do these stupid bounties. I would have to collect them every day and go out of my way to complete them for a measly MW core. At that point. I might as well do the spider bounties. The only good vendors right now is Ada and the gunsmith because of erentil. Maybe instead of Crucible or Gambit crap, we could get something useful like, i don’t know, more materials for Banshee so I can actually get a new erentil for once??? Or maybe vangaurd tokens for a service revolver???

For those of you saying "just play the game", as far as cores are concerned....then why is Bungie acknowledging this if it ISN'T an issue?? What you mean to say is, "just play the game....like I DO"! Who knows how you play to obtain so many cores, or a steady supply as you claim?? No life it? 8 hours a day? No daylight? I understand there is two sides to this debate. But for the love of my female Hunters tight fitting pants.....please stop saying this isnt an issue! When clearly...it is.

We already use 10,000 glimmer, 27 legendary shards and 17 masterwork cores to masterwork 1 weapon. Isn't that impactful enough? Like seriously, what difference does it make to Devs for us to have to use 2-3 cores for infusion. 1 core to infuse a legendary into an exotic would suffice. Legendary to legendary or exotic to exotic should be a wash... meaning 0 cores needed. Want to clean up the forums? Eliminate the problem and the posts about it will disappear

      • i think you miss the problem THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE ARE ONLY GETTING ONE PER BOUNTY, can we actually just get masterwork drops back on armor pieces because it was always nice to get a MW piece of armor every once and a while? or have a scaled reward system that gives you a certain amount of cores depending on what the difficulty of the activity. Another thing you can do is give us another mod socket to armor and weapons when it becomes masterworked, and make masterworking seem as the BETTER OPTION when it comes to MASTER WORKING V S INFUSION Mod components arent really that much of a problem anymore but honestly i would rather have a larger mod selection available at the gunsmith and a rotating black armory inventory for some black armory mods plus some "enhanced" armor mods enhanced armor mods can essentially have 2 benefits in one while pertaining to a certain effect, these can be limited to the what type it of armor it can be equipped to, and by that i mean what slot the armor takes (head, chest, arms, legs, class) not the class of armor itself (heavy, mobile, restorative) the best way to fix the infusion problem .... IS TO MAKE MASTER WORKING MORE APPEALING THEN IT CURRENTLY IS AND by making it easy enough to obtain cores for EVERYONE not just the top people, catering to ONE GROUP IS WHAT -blam!-ED THE GAME OVER IN THE FIRST PLACE, you need to RESPECT PEOPLES TIME, not only that you need to do something about those who DID ABUSE THIS, im not talking a ban, but simply check the accounts of those who have obtained a pinnacle weapon from season six and had a unexplained influx of cores and strip them of the cores that they obtained in this way.

        • It's like they scrape the bottom barrel of the people so downtrodden that they're bargaining, compromising, and saying things like please Bungie, then incorporating some of those ideas into their next update on this "discussion" they think we're going to back down on. Overwhelming majority doesn't want Masterwork cores to be used for infusion. Plenty have left or stopped progressing because of the time padding grind that masterwork cores are. What should be a speed bump to improving gear you own, is an obstacle course with a toll to pay each time you make it to the next obstacle.

        • So we know it was Gothalion who suggested infusion should be meaningful, I just found this tweet on his feed from March this year... "I did suggest that infusion needed to be more meaningful when at bungie. I don’t think cores in current form are that, certainly not with frequent incremental power leaps. Not sure where that point is, tho I don’t think making it overly cheap fits the bill either" BUNGIE YOUR PRECIOUS STREAMER HAS SAID ITS NOT GOOD. (Admittedly he also says it should be cheap either but still!!! ) But for the love and life of this game just swallow your -blam!-ing pride and actually listen to the players!

          • You’re creating a “buy cores and do chores” game. People should be logging in to play and have fun. They shouldn’t need to login with a plan on how to maximize core earnings. This is a sticking point for so many people because this is not fun and this is not meaningful. People either hate this or tolerate it. Nobody masterworks a weapon and thinks, “that was fun and worth it.” You’ve created a really terrible system and you need to remove it. Learn from your mistakes and move on. People will accept a meaningful infusion system and smart material economy, but what you have is meaningless and half-baked. It’s a nuisance for the sake of being a nuisance. It adds nothing to the game and causes frustration. It is a failure.

DMG, While having additional routes to acquire enhancement cores and mod components is fine, and regardless of the currency used to purchase them, that is still not the point. We are fine with using enhancement cores for masterworking weapons and armor. What we are NOT fine with is requiring them for infusion. When we only need to burn 5000 glimmer to infuse a higher level same weapon or armor into another, it is significantly more painful when it is into a different weapon or armor piece. This is a QOL issue, not "making choices meaningful". Let me explain. We have exotics - weapons and armor. There are only so many, and they are usually keepers and used all the time. Each time the level cap rises we have to (or rather want to) level them up. Due to the lousy drop rates of exotics (and I do mean lousy!) we cannot count on getting drops of the same, but higher leveled exotics. This means we wait until our guardians are capped out on power, then start re-infusing weapons and armor into our exotics. We have to do this to keep them relevant and it requires a significant amount of cores. Do you see where I'm going with this? Due to your requiring enhancement cores for infusion, nobody is masterworking anything. I can't remember the last time I masterworked a weapon or piece of armor. I usually just wait for a curated roll for weapons and for armor, what's the point? We get a different set of armor each season for IB, so if you invest in masterworking a set now, it is useless and underleveled next season. If you want to use it next season, then wham, you need to use more cores for infusion. The whole masterworking system for armor is a big mess and not worth the investment of the scarce cores. If cores were no longer required for infusion, you would see people making "meaningful choices" on masterworking armor and weapons. If you really want to increase the amount of cores available, just make one drop from every bounty you complete (no matter the vendor), every heroic public event, daily heroic story missions, and every heroic strike. Making a new set of gunsmith bounties just to get more cores is not going to make people play more. I can tell you right now that I trash most of the scrapper bounties that drop because I have no interest in performing the activities they require. I really don't understand why Bungie doesn't get it. You all play the game too right? Rant over and I'm stepping down from my soap box.

                  • Wow.. ONE CORE for a Daily.. ONE CORE for a Weekly.. It takes like 10+ cores to MW one item... I think 10 Cores for a Weekly would be nice. And 3 for the Daily. That way you can MW maybe 2 Items a week. I think that's a good enough grind for MW items.. However ... Now we have the whole INFUSION to worry about. So.. how about 25 Cores for a Weekly and 10 For a Daily....

                    • I'm not doing bounties for cores; I could care less what the bounties cost. Not sure why the decision makers there think forcing us to do things we don't want to so we can pay upkeep costs on things we already acquired is going be fun or make us want to play. It doesn't. 4000+ comments in the last thread explaining exactly why meaningful infusion sucks. Not really sure why we need to keep "discussing" this. The Revelry content looks interesting, it's just a shame the studio is going to ruin it by being so stubborn on this topic that adds Zero value to the game. 529k PvE players a day. Odd whoever is making decisions doesn't want us to play. I played thousands of hours when the game wasn't a pointless job.
