Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • Gonna have to say no. Just make them part of an award for activities we are already doing. Milestones, weekly bounties and flashpoint activities should all grant cores.

Look cosmo i believe the cores shouldnt be a part of infusion because i think the leveling would be much more enjoyable if we could infuse our gear to Max power without using enhancement cores then use the enhancment cores to do what they are named for.... Enhance gear.... I don't masterwork armor because im hoarding it for infusion... So either A u need to make the cores way easier to get so casuals can enjoy the game too(elitist players need to remember, player population is good for the game) Or B which i like more is make it so enhancment cores are part of the end game grind while your perfecting your builds.(AFTER MAX LEVEL GRIND) ..... Enhancment cores should be a way to get a full masterwork build for armor and guns, what im talking about is the ultimate version of your guardian... It adds more depth this way in my opinion.

  • Instead of doing bounties for the gunsmith for crappy cores why not bring gunsmith weapons back like d1 had ,and just get rid of the cores

  • Bring back D1 Motes of Light. OG infusion material. 5 for every level increase and you got then from practically any activity in the game. Game fixed.

    • If you just removed cores from infusion but left it as the resource to Masterwork weapons and armor that would go a long way in satisfying people. It cost a lot of cores to Masterwork one weapon same with one piece of armor let alone all five. The fact that I have to use two to three cores to infuse a weapon or armor piece I dont have any left over to masterwork a set of armor, and we should be able to masterwork a gambit set and a crucible set if we want to. It's just not possible with the lack of cores available to us and making them needed for far to much in the game

    • Can you guys at least make these give more cores? Seriously one per is awful and doesn't help, doesn't matter how many bounties their are, we're still going out of our way to do something just to get cores. The dailies should give two, that way you can at least infuse up one legendary, while weekilies should give six, enough for three legendaries or two exotics.

    • I know you guys already responded to it (because I actually keep up to date via DestinyRoundup), but for those on these...”exceptionally” civilized forums that don’t check out DestinyRoundup or keep up to date with what the devs are talking about, I want to bring awareness to this, because I thought it was a really good piece of feedback, and DMG appeared to think so too. So there was a reddit post a few days ago that likened enhancement cores to motes of light (which were also used for infusion purpose back in D1), and the guy basically suggested we earn a handful of cores with every level up past max level, just as it was done with motes of light. If you think about it, it’s actually a pretty good compromise. As long as you’re playing and earning XP (which isn’t that hard), you’re guaranteed to get enough cores to spend for infusion and masterworking gear. Pop a fireteam medallion and you be even more efficient. Just to be clear again, it’s not my idea, just wanted to share that reddit post on here for those that aren’t aware.

    • Make it 2 cores for each daily and 5 cores for each weekly bounty and I may consider playing for more than a couple hours a week. Also make the bounties things that can be completed by just playing. Like 3 public events anywhere or 2 strikes. Not things like 'kill the wanted on Nessus', where we have to wait around for it to spawn, RNG bounties are a huge turn-off in playing this game

    • Didn't realize people were still complaining about mod components, unless just those that haven't bought the pass. Which it's pretty crappy that the devs locked that solution behind the pass...

      • Pinning this post is what I call thug life by bungie. The daily and weekly equal same core reward. Definitely bungie consulted PhD level designer to come up with this solution.

I like the idea of the bounties but you need to up the amount of cores you can get from these otherwise they are not worth grinding for. Alternatively remove masterwork cores entirely from the game and just use these bounties to get random mods.

        • The weekly bounties should reward five cores the amount the daily ones reward across the five days.

Honestly, I just don’t want to grind old boring content completing bounties for cores. This doesn’t fix the issue for me. I hardly play as it is now as I’m bored of the game. More boring grinding won’t get me playing more, it’ll get me playing less.

          • 1). The bounties are nit the solution anyone wants. It also doesn’t increase what we earn as it merely replaces scrapper bounties. 2). Are the bounties going to be able to be completed naturally through milestone or simply playing our favorite modes. No one wants another spider bounty just to get cores. 3). Thanks for posting exactly what you said earlier and nit getting any changes that matter. Charging glimmer instead of parts is better but literally a non issue change. Why that was the focus shows how out of touch the devs and probably cozmo and dmg are. Again how that was focused if over the actual issue is beyond me. 4) Why dint the community managers let us know they are telling the devs the issue with cores? If I were cozmo and dmg I would post one thread a week that said the community still wants cures removed from infusion. Curious as to why they don’t. (I simply dint think they are. If the devs were hearing about cores as much as the forums post them, they would make changes. Or they truly dint care about players and are trying to make the game worse on purpose. All grind for no reward and you get to look horrible the whole time too).

          • Evaluate feedback or misinterpret it? Look I’d prefer you people create new strikes and PvP modes but if you going to keep spending time to address and readdress something this dumb why not just remove the things? People with tons of cores are as effected the same by them if they were removed and people without them feel like they have to play with gear they don’t like to get to a proper light level. Just remove the damn things and get back to making actual content again please.

          • Unless you make a drastic change, the feedback is never going to change: stop requiring enhancement cores for infusion. "continuing to evaluate feedback" is just wasting everyone's time.
