I could not disagree with you more that "there won't be a point to play without cores", and am actually a bit taken aback that someone is trying to forward that argument. As a day 1, D1 player I'm actually a bit shocked. This game is at its best without EMPTY grind. Give people MEANINGFUL grind and you'll have player engagement. Give people empty chores that otherwise preclude them from using their gear, and you have the majorly unhappy and dwindling playerbase we have now.
