Point by point: 1. Scrapper bounties. ----> Random drop from dismantling a random gear drop. 2. Spider bounties-----> Capped at a maximum of 6 per character per week. 3. Tokens------> Only produce cores if you're lucky enough to either get a Masterworked item....or one that is partially MW'ed to Level 4 or higher. IOW....MORE RANDOMNESS. 4. Gunsmith----> Same issue with as with the other Tower Vendors. RANDOM. 5. Crucible rewards----> Since the rate at which you rank up is controlled by how often you win, this is not a viable option for the weaker or infrequent PvP player. That Resetting your rank may represent WEEKS worth of play. So by saying "cores are easy to get" you are both wrong on the facts...and wrong in terms of game design. In a well-designed game, you level up by simply playing the game. The game doesn't FORCE you to have play specific parts in order to progress....nor do they focus on trying to slow down and frustrate that progression. IOW, in a game like The Division 2 or Anthem or Warframe....Progression is an INVESTMENT process. You are rewarded with power and progress, in proportion to how much you play and how successfully you play....and rewareded in a predictable manner in proportion to the effort expended. Destiny 2 doesn't have a progression system...IT HAS A SLOT MACHINE. It is so infused with randomness at every level, that you basically just WAGER your time and effort....and then HOPE that the game spits out something that you can actually use to progress your character. So not only are those rewards random....they come at random intervals....and whether or not they are proportional to the effort you had to expend to get them is also random. Which is why so many people are quitting this game in frustration. They don't care to have their time wasted, and their effort disrespected as Bungie is now fallen to ROUTINELY doing. TLDR: The problem isn't that I can't get 10 cores from the game. The problem is that it may take me 15 minutes......or 15 HOURS to get those cores depending solely on LUCK. That's not how you build a game that people will enjoy playing. That's how you build a game that a few unfortunate people will grind addictively, and will be pretty miserable while they're doing it.

  • I see, you want guaranteed drops all the time. You dont want to work for anything you just want it with minimal work. Why aren't you complaining about 1000 voices being In the general loot pool. Better yet, zur should sell it. The I want it now is ruining this game. Did you ever play Nintendo??

Actually just the opposite. When I work I want to get paid. If you come to my house and mow my lawn. You are going to want the $35 dollars we agreed to . Not a "chance" that I might pay you $35.....and a "chance" that I might pay you today....or sometime next week. That's how "investment systems" work. Predictable effort leads to predictable rewards. I'm not complaining about 1K voices, because that weapon is a LOOT item. I don't need that weapon in order to progress my character. I may want it....but I don't NEED it. So handing it out randomly is acceptable in these kinds of games. But I NEED cores in order to progress my character in this game, and have any sort of control over what builds I run. So cores are a PROGRESSION item....and 20 years of game design convention has established that handing out PROGRESSION on a random basis and unpredictably is A FOUL. That is why this is getting such passionate and persistent pushback. Its basically against the rules. Bungie is cheating....and they're cheatign to cover up the fact that they can't keep the game supplied in enough loot to play by the rules. I'm not asking to be given cores. I'm asking to be given a PREDICTABLE source of them that Bungie doesn't arbitrarily and artificially CAP.....or is trying to play Three Card Monty with. Trying to keep hidden away behind layers of randomness. . IOW. I dont' care to have my time wasted. Or my efforts cheated. Because Bungie wants me playing....but doesn't want to have to REWARD me for doing so.

  • You do get rewarded for playing If you know how to get the rewards you need. This game has been so dumbed down that you almost always get what you want with minimal effort. The bottom line is the game doesn't reward you for being at cap anyways. There is no reason to be 700 because every activity is capped. Your 700 doesnt matter in any raid, strike, gambit, crucible or whatever. If you do leviathan your a 300 power level. Period. Last wish 540, SOTP 650. Why even try to get to 700 when it doesn't help you at all.
You do get rewarded for playing If you know how to get the rewards you need. This game has been so dumbed down that you almost always get what you want with minimal effort.
That's not how these games work. Progression is not elusive. The loot is. This game is not "dumbed' down. If you don't like to work for predictable progression rewards, then you are playing the wrong KIND of game.
The bottom line is the game doesn't reward you for being at cap anyways. There is no reason to be 700 because every activity is capped.
These kinds of games are not supposed to reward you for that. In fact being at level cap is NOT an "accomplishment" that loot-based gamers value or respect. What IS valued are builds, build strength, and acquiring rare/powerful loot items. Which is why what Bungie is doing with cores is both terribly misguided and INCREDIBLY stupid. Becuase they are trying to prop something up as an "achievement" that the typical PVE gamer doesn't give a shit about. ...and they are throwing SAND in the gears of the basic reward loop...and the ability to create multiple, powerful builds which something players care deeply about...and is a cornerstone of the game. Its like pouring soda into the gas tank of your car trying to hide the fact that you can't afford to buy gas for it. YOU just BREAK the car. You make matters worse, because you're unwilling to be honest about the nature of the FIRST problem. I have tons of gear sitting in my vault that I can't use, because I can't afford to spend the cores necessar to level them up to end-game power levels....and I refuse to play with item with a power level 550 or 600, because Bungie is too stubborn and too arrogant to play by the game design rules here. There are too many other....better....loot games on the market right now, for me to put up with this from them. NO ONE ELSE DOES THIS.

  • Why do you have to be at cap to use your powerful build. If we've established power level doesnt matter, why cant you use your powerful build at a lower power level?

  • Why do I have so accomodate Bungie’s inability or unwillingness to follow the rules of good game design?? I don’t need a car that drive faster than 35 mph. But why should I have to settle for that? I don’t have to, and I don’t WANT to.

  • Look, absolutely no one will care if you leave and never come back. You have to make a choice and stick with it.

  • You see that's where you're wrong, kid. Bungie will ultimately care...and you will. 1. I and people like me will leave and take our MONEY with us. 2. In the short term that means player numbers will decline. So any sort of matchmaking will take longer, and have worse connections. 3. Bungie will eventually need to come back to us to ask for more money...and I don't intend to give them any more of mine until this is fixed. If enough of us keep our wallets closed...t.hen that means Bungie makes less money. 4. Less money from sales (and the loss of Acivision's money as publisher) means you'll have even LESS content to play....and FEWER updates to the game. So be very careful what you wish for. This is not a single player game....so start demanding that other people leave the game at your own peril. Because it will VERY much have a negative impact on your experience of the game if they do.
