It’s kind of hilarious if you think about it. All bungie has to do is remove cores, and bam, the player base loves them.

  • Yes and no. Bungie has lost a lot of good faith in the community by simply stubbornly ignoring this issue for so long. Customer service-wise, it is suicide to be so closed-minded. Simply fixing it now doesn't restore the ground lost.

  • Just goes to show the size of their ego. Not a very good look for this company as they try and make it solo. They have no one to blame for their poor decisions now.

  • I agree with you. They are working right now on the most complicated ways to give us us other sources to obtain them. Instead it would be the easiest thing on earth if they just delete them from infusion. They are nuts.

  • Never have I seen such a blatant case of developper ego / design rigidity vs. customer satisfaction. Over something so ultimately pointless, since there would be plenty of other options to achieve the same objectives of drawing out progression / stretching playtime. It's really mind boggling.

  • There are players in D2 that are defending bungie's position on so many stupid things like this core crap. I am starting to realize that bungie is not to blame(entirely) the feedback is confusing as f.....

  • Agree. They probably don't have established NPS KPIs, or any other standing satisfaction or sentiment metrics in place to get an actual pulse of the base and how it is currently trending. So they fall back on stats like playtime, core inventory / usage etc to make decisions. Which is why we end up with these non-solutions. They figure that gamers are naturally vocal, that forum users are a small non-representative sample (oh how I love that one...) and comprised of haters / fans etc and so everything gets watered down in the extreme by the time it hits the devs, which are quite manifestly disconnected from the base and reality... I mean one core for a weekly FFS... Here is why is still don't get the approach... Why assume that removing cores would alienate the ones defending them? They add absolutely nothing positive in and of themselves. The sense of accomplishment could be obtained differently (see exotic catalysts for ex...) Great if some don't mind them.... I honestly doubt they would start hating the game or leaving if they were removed. Did anyone complain about Etheric light getting deprecated in D1? Nope. So why continue to alienate the dissatisfied portion of the base when removing cores from infusion would not, in turn, alienate the ones who don't mind them...

  • For me the idiotic part of this core conversation is this, i never have a lack of cores except when the light/power level goes up but since it takes so many months for patches that do light bump you have more then enough time to gather cores making them pointless( i dont play D2 everyday and still manage this) adding to this if you really want to grind them it is not that hard between dismantling gear, cores from spider(at this point i have so many legendary shards that giving 40 or 80 for a core means nothing) , those bounties that give core and using our brain to upgrade stuff as in after you hit power cap.

  • Exactly. If they can't make the change totally right now due to UI modifications, all they need to set is enhancement core value requirement on infusions to 0. And remove the condition that stops players from infusion if cores aren't enough. It's just a stupid algorithm. I can't see how hard this shit is.
