dmg, On 4/1/2019, I began playing with zero cores. As I deleted them, all 563 cores, at the demand of VERY senior forum members who have been invited to your summits. So, I deleted them all. In the roughly ten days that followed 4/1/2019, I’ve moved from max power level on highest character of low 670’s to full max 700 on one. I’ve accumulated WELL over 100 cores since then, I’ve masterworked my Blast Furnace, I’ve infused to 700 my new warlock exotic gauntlets, I’ve infused numerous other items, mostly same item to same item though. I’m still sitting at roughly 100 cores. From my personal experience, the core economy isn’t overly burdensome. Feel free to pull my history, from deleting my 563 cores until now and publish it, as an example, if you would like.

  • No shit, Sherlock. You’ve also played 61 hours since April 1st (ten days) including 27 hours in the last three days.

  • I played zero hours yesterday, I was away from my console. I’ll be away from the console Friday and Saturday also. But!, I’m not a top 1% player wrt time in this game, nor am I a streamer. I think I’m top 2% but that puts roughly 300,000 putting more time in than me. Roughly. That’s quite significant. I missed 2/3’s of March, playing the game, my choice as we ALL have life outside of video games, So I am trying to catch up! Family will always be my priority, actually my hibiscus plants and bougainvillea’s are prioritized higher on the food chain than this game, lol. But, I DO try to slam time in, especially when I know I’m going to be away. This is a completely different discussion topic though, speaking of free time to apply to this game or core economy being “completely broke”. I’ll remind you, the season is 90 days long. Should ppl hit max level and max gear, and max cores, and max masterworked gear inside 14 days? Regardless if ppl spend 20 hours a day, every day. The only difference is how quickly you get there. I see a lot of ppl complaining that they want the same progression and gear for their 1-2 hours every other day inside the gaming world comparative to a person who is able to spend 12 hours a day, every day. Bungie knows their metrics better than we. That is exactly why Bungie stated: “We hear the core issue commentary and we’re evaluating it..., ALONGSIDE..., our own internal metrics analysis.

  • My apologies I read the heat map wrong, the three days you played 27 hours was April 7, 8, and 9. My apologies on getting the days wrong, doesn’t change the ten day total or the point that I’m making.

  • My friend, we ALL have personal lives, we ALL have differing schedules. Over time, my game time evens out. Sometimes, I spam my time in game bc I know I’ll be away, other times, like almost the entirety of March, I was away, first at BikeWeek in Daytona, then at a family member out of my state. The entirety of the last two weeks of March were completely dark time, wrt Destiny game. Only dsl, and very weak dsl, out there in the rural world! lol I’m not a 1% guy. I’m not a streamer. This is a hobby, my free time. But, how many hours isn’t the argument that this community is making against cores being in the game. The argument was, as presented to me: 1) Cores are rare, like diamonds. 2) It’s impossible, REGARDLESS of playtime, to achieve enough cores to infuse what you need or masterwork multiple loadouts. I’m neither a pro streamer, nor am in the top 1%, and I’ve been able to do just fine. Look at my time, in game, since the new season began and I guarantee you won’t see me averaging the time you have isolated over those three specific days.

  • Don’t be so dramatic. You were challenged by someone to delete your cores, so you did and then purposely spent 61 hours to accumulate “more than 100 cores”. By your own admission you even went out of your way to NOT use them for infusion and only used them to masterwork a few guns and pieces of armour. You’re arguing against people who would never spend 61 hours chasing cores and then contradict yourself by even going out of your way to NOT use them for infusion. The entire discussion revolves around whether or not they should be used for infusion so, please, tell me again what your point is? Or is your point simply “enhancement cores don’t affect me so they aren’t a problem”?

  • I didn’t go out of my way to accumulate cores OR to not infuse. I have rarely, very rarely used cores for infusion, in the past. And my cores were received doing milestones from dismantles, Spider bounties, and scrappers as they pop up. My normal, regular D2 habits. 61 hours over ten days is far less than a lot of ppl, especially when you count in the 14 days previous to that when I had Zero hours in the game. So, over time, my game time averages out to no different from any of the other 300,000 to 400,000 ppl I’m in the same boat, time-wise, as. Differences of opinions and differences on topics here are not being dramatic. I’m just very simply stating my experience. And, cores just didn’t/don’t seem to be a problem for me, even when I had zero. Heck, I’ll even delete the next group if 500, as soon as they become available. Your experience is not the same as mine, nor necessarily any other if the over 14,000,000 registered users. But, each of us should be abke to post our own experiences without being told to either shut up or join the pitchfork bandwagon.

  • If you can make one heap of all your cores And risk it on one turn of "VERY senior forum member demanded it", And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; You will be a guardian You almost made it :)

They are so unimportant. It’s easy, VERY easy, to accumulate large amounts of cores. I don’t understand the hysteria. So, for me, cores are unimportant to the game. Once I hit 500 cores, I’ll delete them again. I have almost everything I need or want masterworked. 2 or 3 dozen fully masterworked weapons, working on my 3rd full set of singe/loadout specific armor. I try to use same item to same item as far as infusing goes, so, rarely do I need them there. AND, I can buy 3 cores per day. That is the exact opposite of how: “Impossibly hard they are to come by” as a lot of others here are saying. I just, truly, don’t understand the hysteria. Edit: lol, Fair enuf on the almost made it point, but, to be honest, I’m not trying to be anything other than simple me. My postings wrt this, had nothing, Absolutely nothing about me becoming anything other than little old me. lol. Differences in point of view are critical here, I’m not a fan of pitchforking, and I’ll never follow a crowd off the edge of a cliff blindly. So, I did my own research. And thought it appropriate to share the differing game experience I’ve had, with tons of cores and with zero cores, simple as that. Before, that very senior forumite told me: “You have enough cores to infuse and masterwork forever, so you have no voice in this fight.” I thought that quite unfair, so I deleted them, to have my voice heard.

  • Interesting. But what if you wanted to do numerous loadouts? Masterworking them all and infusing them up to 700 would probably be an issue. I think these gunsmith bounties will help though. I just hope the bounties are fun to do.

  • I currently am working on my 3rd full set of armor on each character. I use Enhanced Reverie armor bc tons of it drops from doing Petra’s weekly bounty. Sometimes I get 3 different pieces of armor by completing that one weekly, and on each character! It makes infusing MUCH easier and less costly when you’re infusing same item to same item. I have probably two dozen fully masterworked weapons also, maybe more. My philosophy has been to use cores for masterworking gear, almost exlusively. If I need my masterworked Nameless infused, I’ll grind vanguard milestone activities on each until I do. If I get a Duke, instead I’ll throw it into my fully masterworked Duke. My loadout’s change, depending on 1)weekly singe for activities and 2)what powerful gear I get from my activity specific milestones. I’ll infuse my, same item to same item, powerful gear drops into my masterworked gear, almost always. I have plenty, maybe close to 100 fully masterworked pieces of armor and weapons. It makes saving cores easier when you’re always doing same item to same item infusions. Just a different way of looking at the economy and not trying to force it to comply with what I believe it should be. I never understood why masterwork cores were renamed and placed into the infusion process to begin with. But, in all truthiness, I rarely use cores in infusing, very rarely, so for me, cores are still masterwork cores. It’s just the way I adapted, or refused to adapt. lol.

  • I see. I also try and do same item to item when infusing. Definitely helps (especially with my Tigerspite which is one of my favourites and drops all the time).

  • Glad you responded. I should have answered your question more appropriately to the larger community, wrt numerous loadout’s and masterworking. Of course, the more gear you have to fully infuse and masterwork, the more valuable cores will be, and the more you will need. If you want to get everything to where you want them to be, that is. Which obviously is Fully masterworked and Fully leveled up. I just think that’s an: “Thank You Captain Obvious” answer. lol Nice thing about your TigerSpite is the number of times you have at same to same infusions bc of Petra’s weekly bounties. Especially, if you play multiple characters. It’s not a bad gun, neither is the Misfit, I’ve been using it a lot and I like it. Tons!

  • Sweet. Thanks for clarifying. I only used the Misfit a bit. I should use it some more. Honestly after the Gunsmith bounties I think cores may not be an issue anymore. I haven't had issue quite yet, because I didn't play a lot after Forsaken. But the more I play and make new loadouts, the more cores I'll need. I just hope those gunsmith bounties have us do something different than all of the other bounties out there.
