Mod components are rarer than cores. You can only get mod components by dismantling year 1 weapons or pay a hefty price to ada. Cores can be bought from spider plus earn 6 per week from his bounties. You can earn 3 per day from scrapper bounties, get them from completing a weekly bounty at Hawthorne. Plus you can get countless from dismantling the right year 2 gear. Plus all the curated raid weapons/Gambit prime weapons, dismantle your duplicates that's 7 cores each. When I play a lot I probably get between 30-50 cores per week. For mod components without buying from Ada, I probably get less than 5 per week.

Agreed! Plus what good are mod components in this game? Seriously, they are pointless and do not work half the time.

I was responding to the op's list of importance. On my list I have mod components over enhancement cores. On your second point, you are correct but if you want to use that weapon or armor piece to infuse something else, you lose that mod and get nothing. Second, if you just don't want that mod anymore and you dismantle it, guess what? You only get 1 mod component back out of the 10 you spent. A year 2 weapon costs 17 cores to fully masterwork. Don't want that weapon anymore or just need the cores? Dismantle it and get a decent 7 cores back. Mods and mod components could use a boost in availability and what you get back when dismantling stuff.
