I will restate my opinion here...
I get that you want us to make meaningful choices. You want to move away from how easy the game was in year 1. However, I think that you made a bad choice on this issue... all because those who made it don't seem to understand how we play the game. So, let me try to summarize it for you...
When I make a character in this game, I (and many many others) want to be able to have several *viable* builds available to meet the needs of different activities. I like having different outfits and sets of gear. But, the addition of "cores" makes achieving that a chore... it's not just a grind but a chore. Because I need to use "cores" in every aspect of my gear, I do not have a proper set of fully masterworked gear on any character at this time... because I have to split my focus.
My focus is split on THREE different needs...
1. Leveling up my gear.
2. Completing all of the various "quest lines" Destiny offers to acquire the gear I want.
3. Helping my friends do all of the same.
The way *your* system is right now... I am forced to grind more and enjoy the game less. And, I actually feel guilty that I have to keep so much focus on grinding because it takes away the joy of experiencing all the fun Destiny offers.
You need to reverse course and return masterwork cores to their original purpose. Infusion should only require planetary resources. *Upgrading* the stats of gear is what should require masterwork cores.
