Thats the problem though. The point of drip fed DLC, the whole reasoning behind smaller DLCs instead of a larger annual one, the reason timegates exist, the reason milestones look like a chore list, the reason theres this problem over cores. Everything is to extend player time via content or grinding. Bungie is trying to keep its players by keeping them busy and have things to do but like every other game it grows old. Unless its gamebreaki g all this micromanagment needs to stop because if we had true a DLC with real content, i guarantee players would come back.

  • Or just the freedom to play the content that is already here the way we want. Bungie is micromanaging because they're scared and think this is the only way to keep people in the game. The problem is that its having the opposite effect. Players feel smothered. The game feels stale because its become its most mind-numbingly repetitive, since there is no player freedom or agency.....and people are getting frustrated and quitting. Shit. My clan is so dead that they made me one of its administrators, and I didn't even realize it till yesterday.... ...because I"M playing the game so infrequently now.

Agreed. Bungie are control freaks and they don't even understand that boosting player agency has the capacity to both make the game much more pleasant to play and increase their fun as a developer as well. They can't grasp that concept or are too afraid of it and that's why right now this game is a series of railroad trips. A game that is not fun, not engaging, not worthy of the time invested.

  • Agreed. I think they’re scared we’ll stop playing if they did not lead us around like five year olds crossing the street.

You started by saying the freedom to play what you want, but then mention theres no player freedom because were being smothered. This circles back to the issue that Bungie is trying to keep people by micromanaging the game. People can play how they want by all means, but Bungie is trying to force people to play all aspects of the game through milestones instead of letting people do what they want and be rewarded for it.
This circles back to the issue that Bungie is trying to keep people by micromanaging the game.
Not arguing that. I'm saying that they are two different problems, but ones that share a common cause. Some people are mad because there isn't enough to do, and not enough to chase. Others....like me...are mad becuase they're not free to do what they want with what is already IN the game.
