I’ll say what I always say. Cores need to be earned more organically through gameplay. Strikes should reward one on completion. Nightfalls can drop 3, raid stage completions 3, crucible matches drop 1, and gambit could drop a couple on completion. Either remove cores from infusion or make them more common to get through just finishing activities. Nobody gets on to go to the shore to do spider bounties. We get on to raid, play crucible, or Gambit not spend an hour doing busy work.

 • How about we just remove masterworks from the game completely so cores don't exist at all? At least it would prevent forums being filled with this "feedback".

 • I’m all for cores being removed from infusion but they seem very keen to keep them in so they need to make them more readily available.

 • crucible competitive should yield 3 as well just to be fair, along with gambit prime

 • KG2 is right. You can’t add more drops. It would break masterworking. Besides, Bungie has already proven it’s easier for them to nerf stuff than buff, especially if the item is just stapled onto the game.

 • The only viable solution is removing them completely from infusion and leave them only for masterworking (which was the sole reason they were created for, in the first place).

 • From a design standpoint. Masterworking a weapon is a huge upgrade to its power. It generates orbs which is a buff to super recharging for the whole fireteam. Plus you get a significant bonus to one of your weapon stats. You want it to be rare, and something you only do with your most prized weapons. While infusion—as a leveling mechanic—-is one of the most mundane acts in the game. So mundane that every other rpg handles them with currencies that are freely farmable. By the time you add enough cores to the game to restore infusion to its proper role in the game, you’ll have people with thousands of cores and can masterwork every weapon they have. You make it into a trivial matter.

 • Bungie already broke masterworking. They created competing needs on a rare material and as we can see, infusion is far and away the priority choice. Nobody is masterworking anything because it's not worth it anymore, not compared to infusion. Masterworking gives you a modicum of a stat boost to a random stat and doesn't affect the gear's overall performance while infusion gives you control where your power increases go, allowing you to access higher difficulty content while using optimal equipment instead of random pieces that may only be slightly beneficial, if at all.

 • Would it though? I’ve played all through year 2 without ever masterworking a set of armor. There’s literally no point in doing it do to the fact that you’ll just have to infuse it again later. I have a few guns masterworked and that’s it. I mean I’m not on all the time but I feel like there should be an easier way to get them by just playing. Like I said people get on to do raids and stuff, not scrounge around the shore to get materials to go do the spider bounties. Cores should be awarded just by playing since they are such an integral part of infusion and masterworking gear.

 • It would if you made them freely farmable. Which you’d have to do in order to truly fix infusion.

 • Then just make it to where you can get them from weekly milestones maybe daily milestones like someone else suggested. At this point it doesn’t really matter. They either need to remove them from infusion or they need to make them more readily available without having to go out of your way to play something you’d otherwise not be playing.

 • They need to do something. But the BEST thing to do for the game is to remove them from infusion.

 • See now of all the arguments ive had with people nobody has suggested what you suggest for cores .. This is actually a great idea .. Maybe the weekly should drop at least 3 up the nightfall to 5 and additional 5 for 100k or more .. All weekly activities should drop at least 3-5 and dailies should drop 1-3 .. I dont think they should be removed I just use the currency exchange with vance and get 15-25 cores each time after spending 1k in shards or more ..its not like i go bankrupt either since I get 90% of the shards I spent back

 • Look if they want to simply add more ways to get cores, this suggestion is far superior to the bounties already in game and coming in the next season, I’ll agree to that. The problem is that simply adding more sources for cores isn’t the answer to the infusion problem. Certainly they could solve it that way, but they would need to be as free and generous as glimmer and shards. Except that would completely trivialize the masterwork economy, which should include a rare currency and be kept and expanded upon for endgame min/max grind. The economy was just fine before Forsaken. Bungie screwed it up by changing infusion. Adding moderately more cores (current plan) does nothing. Making cores freely farmable does fix infusion but breaks masterworking. Removing cores from infusion entirely fixes infusion and keeps masterworking intact. It’s really not that difficult to think through the pros and cons of the solutions and see which makes the most sense.
