I have NF and I can confidently say people are just selfish. They have it in their heads that the time they spent getting these weapons is worth more than the majority of the player base's 8 months of dealing with these weapons. It isn't. These guns don't promote a healthy environment. Yeah, it sucks for the people who got their guns legit, but these adjustments will make the Crucible a far more enjoying place. Most Luna's and even some NF users didn't even have to deal with Luna or NF in comp until after they had it. I personally didn't see a single Luna until I passed 2100 in comp. I didn't see my first NF until I hit Mythic. Now, casual players want those weapons but end up meeting gatekeepers who already have them. People are going around with NF at 800 Glory to boost their stats. So now they feel as if getting either gun isn't worth it at all, so they just leave PvP and spend their time somewhere else. This makes the Crucible more frustrating than enjoyable for the vast majority of players. And for a casual player, aka the vast majority of players who are in this game or left solely because of these guns, countering teams of these guns is far easier said than done. I've practiced a lot in this meta and I can work around it. I can hang if I decide to take it seriously, which I rarely do. I have no problems dropping a 0.5 KDA. It's just a number. But as for the guy at the bottom of my team trying to have fun with a bow and sidearm? He is just getting stomped so hard by teamshotting NF users in IB that he can't even try his build? That's just gotta suck. To feel like the meta on console is so strong that there isn't any point for most of us to have fun is so aggravating. With these nerfs, I hope to see more people in the Crucible. It won't be a perfect place, but it'll be a lot more inviting than it is now.
