A friend asks you how they look in their new dress/suit that they paid a LOT of money for. You think it looks alright but not the best.
What do you say?
Edit: Yes! I know, I messed up a little. This is my first shot at this kind of thing so please be patient. NIL suggested that I do one without the poll so that will probably be how I do the next one

At this point the clothing has been bought....and the person asking you for your opinion isn't really looking for an honest assesement, but instead want a boost to their confidence. They dont' want the truth. The truth would make them feel bad...and nothing (in this situation) will really be gained from making them feel bad. If they were in the process of BUYING the clothing.....I'd give my honest opinion. But I'd couch it in terms of being critical of the piece of clothing, and not of the person wearing it. Once again, the goal being to try to steer them away from a purchase they'll likely regret later, but without making them feel bad. If its a girlfriend or spouse....the stakes are even higher. So my first reaction would be to dodge the question (pretend you didn't hear it).....then tell the white lie if she's already bought it, and dodging the question isn' an option. Do not tell her the truth. She doesn't want to hear it, no matter how much she claims she does. The truth will strike at her body image and sense of attractiveness (she'll blame herself for making the clothing look bad)....and she'll become angry at you for making her feel that way. Its not rational (since she asked for the opinion)...its not fair....but that's how it works.
