More transparency about current D2, frequent commentary, and etc would go a really long way

I'm gonna speak for everyone and say that we feel more in the dark than ever. If there was just some more transparency about current D2 and some commentary I feel like it would ease 50% of community tension/anxiety. We don't need anything official like TWAB, literally could just be tweets from people on various teams. We need honesty and full information, especially on hot button issues and plans. Like even the technical stuff, for example the sandbox - like if you guys can't do something easily, or if seemingly simple fixes are actually super complicated, literally just tell us why! Even if it's technical jargon about the code and most probably won't get it - at least its a reason why. If guys mess up on something, own up to it! The alternative is what we currently have, which is nothing. When you leave things to the community to speculate for ourselves, thats when the toxicity starts - every youtuber puts out a video, the forums go haywire, and chaos ensues. When people are informed about things they are more likely to be understanding. All we want is some real conversations and discussion.

  • Bungie plan: Try to retain key employees when they find out compensation going forward will be in the form of two tokens and one blue.

Sadly Bungie don’t care what people think unless it interrupts their cash flow. The most they would give you is more lies centred around avoiding improving their game as they are working on the next one. If you want to make a statement and get their attention tell them you are not going to buy any more of their content until they make some of the many gameplay improvements they could have done years ago. For example: Adding a half decent cosmetic system such as a transmog system. Having text chatt and voice push to talk on by defualt.

    • That's another thing I miss from D1, back then Bungie live streamed every DLC/Expansion a few times over a month before it was released, releasing tid bits of what the DLC's/Expansions will be bringing us with new weapons, armor, activities etc. they would pump up the hype but in D2 they don't do it anymore which is disappointing I remember Hyping over The Taken King and ROI and PoE etc. Shame they don't do it anymore :( They use to hit 100,000+ viewers just logging on to anticipate the hype :(

      • PvP is in the worst place it's ever been. Even Y1 was better. The sandbox is horrible. Too many supers, too much heavy, terrible maps.

      • It’s a lost cause, D2 has probably got a skeleton crew while Bungie scrambles to patchwork D3 now they don’t have Activision money or resources. I find it funny that you don’t see Cozmo or DMG chiming in on a post like this but they will happily comment on the shit posts, speaks volumes to how Bungie views it’s community. They even had the hide to take a jab at their community in the TWAB, which they’ve been doing for years. It feels like they want to sink their own ship.

      • Transparency doesn't mean squat when we get something totally different from what they tell us we're getting each time. How many times have we been psyched for a new feature only to be completely let down by what it actually is or have it changed last moment like the infusion system right before and after Forsaken for example.

      • You made a mistake posting something like this here. If you want bungie to listen to you, you have to either post it on Reddit or become a regular destiny streamer talking about how great everything is.

Whatever they’re doing it’s not working. I also am confident they do shit on purpose, for example you can look back to Prometheus lens... you mean to tell me they didn’t play test that and see how stupidly OP it was? The game needed a shock at the time and that was it. Luna’s Howl? Great weapon, worth the grind, or was. They play tested it, saw it was exceptional and knew eventually they would destroy the gun, but what a way to keep people playing. There are many more examples, but these two stick out. They are tricksters and we fall for it. Not much longer though, this whole completely changing weapons like LH... really sucked the wind out of my sails. If they do in fact implement that change... done, I will uninstall. I can’t invest a bunch of time just to have them crap all over that investment. The above is true or Bungie is just that incompetent.

          • This is very insightful( this actually is super relevant. I feel so bored. I don’t do reckoning because nobody does it in log on ps4 and you can’t solo tier three. Everything in season of the drifter is anus cheeks.

          • My hope is that they are focused on sorting things out properly for D3. I don’t really play D2 anymore it’s so boring. If I need a fix of Destiny I jump on D1, even with nothing left to do and no special ammo in pvp it’s still a hell of a lot more enjoyable to play than this snail turd lol.

            • You must have not been around for D1. Absolutely no communication at all. All these D2 noobs don't know how good they have it. And they complain about cores too. HAHAHAHA!. They don't know the struggle of the ridiculous BS farming of spinmetal, spirtbloom and other resources. Remember those days? Spending hours upon hours and going planet to planet farming hardly any spinmetal or relic iron. Now these kids whine about cores. HAHAHAHA!

            • Yeah, Warframe has it's own issues, but at least the devs are constantly talking with the community, doing streams almost every week on every platform the game is available on rn. The plat gifts at the end also give incentive to watch, even if you're not that interested in the topic at hand that day. Bungie has a lot to learn on building a rapport with their playerbase, because rn it's just one alienating decision after another.

              • Regarding this subject, I do like how games like Warframe and The Division 2 have their developers/community managers host streams every so often (I think at least every week...something like that) and I'm sure the relationship between players and Bungie would improve if they would at least host more streams to interact with viewers more often. It's easy to see so much salt and complaining, but there are gems of good feedback and genuine people who want to see the game succeed.

                • Reposting link to developer interview two weeks ago which provides insight into company structure and how they built that structure specifically to develop D1 and D2. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/ Decision making is not centralized. Experimentation with the game appears to be a path to leadership. Employees are broken out into teams to deal with specific projects, but may have multiple managers overseeing their work. Against this structure, I’d be surprised if the company can be any more transparent with its players than it already is. This likely explains why change is the only constant.

                • You’re not speaking for me. D1 communication and updates were terrible - if anyone remembers that. There is way more open communication now, specifics on buffs/nerfs/drop rates (including numbers, when did that happen in D1), and far more frequent iterative updates. The problem is the sense of entitlement in a segment of the player base. Like any company is going to just tell the public everything about their inner workings. And the thing is, it wouldn’t even accomplish anything anyway. People would still complain and second-guess and trash talk out of ignorance.

                  • Honest question here. Do some of you guys go on General Mill's forums and demand them keep you in the loop about every second of everyday, and wonder what they are doing to make sure there are even numbers of rainbow marshmallows as there are clovers in Lucky Charms? Because I have spent a helluva lot more money on Lucky Charms than I have on the Destiny franchise. The entitlement of some of you is staggering. Its a game....

                        • I am not sure what they can do to make the OP happy, honestly. They do the TWAB. It frequently has sections devoted to talking about particular nerfs and buffs. They explained what was going to happen to the Crucible pinnacle weapons. When Season of the Drifter started, they put out a video to hype it. They gave an answer to the cores problem-not the one people wanted, but they explained what they were going to do about the situation. They explain when there's problems-they could do better about solving them promptly, admittedly-and generally keep some communication going. I'm confused because this seems pretty transparent to me, so I can't figure out what the OP wants them to do, precisely.
