I'll bet all my glimmer that they'll remove them in the next major update
As much as I want that to be true, I kind of doubt that it will happen. Dmg’s post above kind of insinuates that the investment team still doesn’t understand why Enhancement Cores being tied to Infusion is an issue, and that they are doubling down on their stance. There is a better chance that they’ll get removed in September, but that’s only because Bungie needs to sell the community something once their obligations to Activision is over, which means that suddenly start acting like they give a shit, and that they are ( and have always been ) listening. Problem is, by then it will be too late. The message that Bungie is sending the community by ignoring this issue, is that they don’t care about the current quality of life of Destiny 2, and they’ll only fix something if it affects their bottom line.

That's assuming September is a major update, we're yet to hear anything meaningful about that or literally anything at all really... For all we know they'll announce that Bungie in fact didn't really have a plan at all after leaving Activision or we'll hear that now that they've left and have little resources, they can't afford to make the big expansion we deserve after waiting 9 months after Forsaken with no story progression unless you count the tiny bits of conversation between the Nine and their emissary. They either do something Nas good as or better than TTK and Forsaken or they do nothing and destiny dies forever and that will serve them right.
