Note that I have 8/10 of these medals and will probably keep grinding until I get the other two. I'm speaking from experience.
I know an issue with this was fixed in the last patch, but getting this medal remains a big challenge for people trying to get the seal for this season.
This medal is highly dependent on luck. You need:
- Closely clustered spawns
- High spawn count
- Your grenade
- Mostly Red bar (or maybe weak orange bar) enemies
- Enough ammo
- Probably your super
- No help from teammates!
If you can get all that you can then make a reasonable attempt at getting the medal. If you are missing any one of those factors, you have almost no chance at getting it.
* If a team mate kills the single wrong enemy leaving you more than 3 seconds away from the next kill, failure.
* If you make a single wrong turn in your pathing or god forbid go back to grab a mote, failure.
* If you spend more than .5 seconds attacking something you can't kill in 3 seconds, failure.
Good teammates are absolutely a detriment to getting this medal, since they can summon the primevil before you even have your super, and can quickly thin a wave enough to make it impossible.
Not only that, the following behaviors are incentivized by this medal.
- Never banking your motes
- Letting teammates die/not reviving
- Letting motes expire
- Letting the bank drain via blocker or invader
- Ignoring invader
In short, your biggest enemy in pursuing these medals becomes your team, and I'm sorry but that is some serious bullshit. People play Gambit prime for the coordinated team play.
You've set up this incredible cycle of stupidity: Play Gambit prime > enjoy the team-play and coordination > decide to engage more deeply with the game mode by going for the seasonal achievement > become an anti team player in trying to reach the seasonal achievements.
Help me understand why you would set up such a cooperative team vs team mode, then have the highest accomplishments in it totally work to undermine the team-play aspects. If I were a designer in the Gambit team this would really piss me off and I'd be pushing for a change in every meeting.
This medal is absolutely THE bottleneck for this seal. All the class triumphs for this seal have some degree of incentivized selfish play, but the massacre medal is such a horrible fit for the Gambit prime game mode that it really pushes things to the extreme. Now, since this is the established bottleneck you have more reapers than ever working to get it which means you are competing against your own team even more and it is becoming even harder to get!
Yes you CAN do it, and yes plenty of people will, but that doesn't make it a good design, and frankly it is underminig the cooperative/competitive experience in prime.

I agree 1000%. This is killing me even as an avid PVE player with my loadout optimized as best as possible. Hell, just make it 4 seconds between kills and that would make a huge difference
