In other words, these things have to basically be left to burn themselves out once ignited.
Why are these things considered the future of automobiles again?

I can see their merit in future; all poineering technology has teething problems. But the people acting like Teslas are already superior in every way to ICE cars as is are kidding themselves. We have a long way to go still.
