Basically what the title says. I miss the old large scale maps from D1. Most the maps in D2 compliment Shotguns too much and the shotgun blink slide spam is annoying to say the least. (Don't get me wrong the shotgun users aren't the only reason for this request. Just one example of what the meta is currently in Crucible.) I want some balance in maps in the rotation for range as well. I understand some small maps in D2 have firing lanes for range but I still don't think it's enough to compliment the ranged weapons in the game. Also slow fire rate weapons have an extreme disadvantage in small maps compared to their fast fire rate counterparts. Not to forget that driving vehicles other than sparrows in PvP is what made some of the maps very unique and fun to play. A good chance to re-implement at least one large scale map would be the moon map from D1 called "First Light". If they brought that with Shadowkeep DLC it would be a perfect opportunity to reintroduce "Combined Arms" along with large scale maps! Or just use the Shadowkeep DLC in general to bring back "Combined Arms" even if they can't transfer the old large maps. Maybe then they could make new large scale maps. Just imagine a Dreaming City large scale map for Combined Arms with portals to parallel dimensions! Or a large scale map in the Tangled Shore with rocks tangled together with vehicle ramps to other adjacent rock islands! Weapons currently benefiting from small maps: - Shotguns - Sub-Machine Guns - Fast Fire Rate Assault Rifles - Fusion Rifles - Side Arms - Swords - Hand Cannons Weapons currently not benefiting from small maps: - Slow Fire Rate Assault Rifles - Snipers - Bows - Scout Rifles - Linear Fusion Rifles - Rockets (I know this pro/con list is debatable but technically everything is debatable.) Obviously a good player can make all these weapons work on small or large maps. But I just think currently with all the small maps, balance in weapon diversity just isn't there yet. Not only would large maps give certain weapons a better chance competitively speaking, but also may even change the meta of Close Range Weapons > Ranged Weapons. Any thoughts?

  • I think it's odd that Bungie went back on combined arms. Probably due to the original 4v4 design of D2 Crucible, but with Battle Royale games being so damn popular, Bungie could have tried large 12v12 maps with tanks and pikes. I'm not into BR at all, but when Black Ops 4 has 50v50 Ground War, it's a different kind of fun.
