Yeah I just realized today that this game isnt for me anymore, which is totally fine! Im around 926 light and I think 40 on the pass. Ill probably finish up the season get to 950 or 1000 light, whatever it is, finish the battle pass thing and then put the game down. I cant put my finger on it but the allure is gone. Its been waning since Black Armory. I stopped having fun and have been only playing it like its a checklist at work. Probably just burnout, who knows. Anyone else feel like that? I dont hate the game or anything, it just doesnt feel the same anymore? I dont raid anymore. I did in D1 but defintely not in D2. So striving for endgame really doesnt feel purposeful? If that makes sense? I think at this point I need a couple single player games with like 10 to 20 hours of content with a solid finale.

  • I can agree I played a lot of persona 5 (a bomb ass single player game)after I was done with the last season and it made the game more easier to play for a long time

  • I’m reading a lot of reasonable responses here about personal experiences in this game. If you play this game non-stop, it can and will burn some people out. There is quite a bit to do between PvE and PvP. Playing another game is quite reasonable and probably a good idea, really. It’s hard to be excited and enjoy yourself when you play a game so extensively that if feels more like a chore than a game. Spacing things out and taking breaks is healthy. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. To those that no longer enjoy themselves, move on. Come back at a later date if you choose too. To those that enjoy the grind and want it all, have at it. Destiny is a grind. There’s almost always something to chase. When you fire up whatever system or your PC and play a game, have fun. It’s what gaming is supposed to be. A break from reality for a while. Enjoy that time. You’ve earned it. I still enjoy what this game has to offer me. When I don’t, I’ll move on.

  • Same here, it's long a winded and mundane chore. This is going to be the last time I purchase destiny related stuff. Can't see it changing. Destiny was fun but flawed. This is still flawed but unfun

  • Maybe you’re feeling burnt out because you’re already 40% done with the season pass and are already above the soft cap after only the first week....?

  • Ha this is probably 100% correct. I just took advantage of the fact that one of my friends decided to give the game a 2nd chance. CoO killed it for him, lol.

I totally feel you here except I got to this point 8 months ago. Played since beginning of D1 faithfully, played D2 quite a bit less in comparison. Just here to gauge if Shadowkeep is anything worth coming back to. But for me Borderlands 3 is still a better game. Though I wish Destiny would drop pvp and be more like Borderlands as Destiny has better shooting mechanics.

  • Played borderlands through endgame and I can say conclusively that destiny is better by a wide margin. It's not that borderlands is bad. It's not. It's a good game. Put it this way. I bought borderlands knowing it would fill the 2 weeks before shadowkeep and expecting it to overlap. One week after borderlands launched, I was max level, had pretty much every legendary and no vault space left(despite it being maxed out) to get any more. There was no content I hadn't done and no reason to do anything again. One week after borderlands dropped, I was back on destiny 2, 2years after its release and 3.5 months after its most recent content drop, with a ton of stuff still to do. The quality of the content is better. There's more to do. The content has actual exclusive rewards. The quality of the gameplay/gunplay is better. To be fair, it's slightly disingenuous to compare them because, while they're both looter shooters, they tackle the genre in very different ways. Borderlands is more campaign oriented and destiny is endgame oriented. Borderlands rains loot while destiny makes you earn it but that makes the feeling of getting a yellow in BL about as special as getting a purple in destiny. None of the content in BL3 is remotely aspirational, which is on account of it being campaign-centric and not focused on endgame.

I guess I can't much argue with anything you said. All true. One thing that stands out for me is Destiny's unrivaled game/shooting mechanics. But what I said before is still true for me. I like & enjoy Borderlands games more, and of course this is subjective. After playing D1 daily from the time it was released, then playing D2 less faithfully up until 8 months ago, I've had it with this franchise. I won't get into specifics but I'm sure you've heard it all before. Most of my issues stem from this game having pvp and all the changes Bungie makes due to that fact. Borderlands 3 is in many ways a lesser game, but as a non-pvp single player it's just what I like. Now if it had Destiny's game mechanics then it would be pretty perfect.

  • 100% agree about PvP. It's awful and it brings down the rest of the game by existing. That's almost unarguable. And yeah preference is definitely subjective. And good on you for liking borderlands, I love it too, mostly the charm of its world and how it doesn't take itself seriously. That being said, if the community was chomping at the bit to criticize BL with the Adamance that they have for criticizing destiny, it wouldn't last a single day. Most of the criticisms of destiny apply to BL and many more do as well. However, people refuse to be objective and are judicious in their application if criticism. There are criticisms of destiny that no one would dare apply to any other game and that would absolutely apply to BL and many more games.

I put it to a difference in expectations. Borderlands players don't expect as much as Destiny players. But I also think there's an underlying conflict in Destiny; pve player's expectations vs pvp player's expectations being in direct conflict, which Borderlands doesn't have to deal with.

  • I think your issue is creativity. For how long now they are just regeritating the same content in different forms and getting away with it. The fact is people keep buying it, even with these posts weekly. In the end they keep doing what makes money and not what would make the game great again. Being 100% honest, burned out or not if they imported the destiny 1 raids for example people would have new life. Its just the little things they could do even until they figure out a real path. They desperately need fun back in this game. Scorch Crucible IS NOT IT

  • If the issue is a lack of creativity and the regurgitating of old content, how could regurgitating the old raids alleviate the problem??

  • Original raids oh man, that would infuse the game with people who might not enjoy the more complex raid mechanics. I loved vault of glass, parts of Kings fall, and Wrath of machine.

  • Same. The first D2 raid was horrible to me after having loved vog and wrath of the machine so much. Even crota was pretty fun. They felt learnable in a way that the new ones do not. I've made it through Leviathan, last wish and scourge and all left me not wanting to go back. I did like the map of last wish at least but Leviathan I did not at all. And then after two mini raids there we go back there for that last crown of sorrow raid and I should ve realized then that shadowkeep would be a let down but I'm a sucker.

  • You said it perfectly: They desperately need to put fun back in this game. Somehow Bungle has apparently decided grinding/chores are fun. IMHO what they need is more solo/ad hoc playable stuff, more matchmakeable content (kinda like Menagerie in concept), less stuff that feels like a job complete with meetings and schedules and repetition.

I don't hate Destiny 2 it's a solid shooter but there very little reason to care about or do anything in the game. I'm in the same boat I might finish the pass then bail just to say I've done everything offered to me.

  • sounds like burn out to me... i tend to play when there is a new release for a month or 2 then i leave it alone until next release. My recommendation would be to find a decent clan that makes playing the game a more social experience instead of a grind. I recently found a decent group of people to play with and they are the only reason i am still playing. Destiny solo sucks, and if you're no longer raiding i can totally understand how you would get burnt out. Go play something else for a bit then come back re-energized!

  • I feel the same way. I dunno if it's the years for random story lines with hardly any progression to any one storyline. Or if grinding power/light level has just gotten old. Or if playing the same content over and over season after season. Maybe all of the above. I just can't get hooked with shadowkeep like I did back in the days of rise of iron and the taken king.

  • Yeah, I put it down about a month or so before Shadowkeep because I was max on all 3 toons and there was nothing new to do. Picked up Borderlands 3 and that got old quick after the story so I came back to see what was new with D2. Didn't buy Shadowkeep, and won't, the moon was a complete reskin. Lame.
